Quote: from Barcrawler on 10:13 am on June 15, 2005 Bravo and I have been discussing who we think is the same girl but we have different names, then a while ago there was the Rosa/Feroza confusion.
I think the Rosa/Feroza is just poor ears with a loud band. As for Ms Perm, will have to see; could be my pathetic memory for names, Habeebee.
Quote: from Tubby 1 on 1:08 pm on June 15, 2005 Anyways decided to pop into TGIT yesterday around 2.30PM to hunt for a lunchtime playmate and was suprised to find the place relatively quiet with no real opportunities worth chasing - left 1 hour later empty handed!!
Nice to see you back and posting... that's unsettling about TGIT. Incentive to check it out myself. ============================= From Gulf News, 15 June 2005, page 4: (bold used by me for emphasis) Visit visas from travel agents will not be extended Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department yesterday denied it would no longer be extending visit visas for individuals, but confirmed rules governing tourists sponsored by travel agents had changed. The department said those entering the country on a visit visa sponsored by individuals could still extend their visit visa for 30 days. "The rule is that the visit visa is for 30 days, with another 30 days' grace period, which can be extended to a further 30 days following a payment of Dh500," an official from the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) said yesterday. However, the official said those entering the country on a visit visa sponsored by a travel agency could now only stay in the country for 60 days. Those staying in five-star hotels are exempt from the new ruling. He said the move was to stop people from staying in the country illegally. "We are trying to monitor the visit visa regulations and to prevent any misuse of them," he said. The official said the new ruling had been in place for about a week. Travel agents and hotels have expressed concern over the change. One Dubai travel agent said they came to know about the new rule 10 days ago. "We received no instructions from the DNRD but when we applied to extend a visit visa it was rejected and we learnt there would be no visit visa extensions, it is limited to 60 days only," an agency spokeswoman said. Business will be affected "This decision will definitely affect travel agents' business. It will weaken more than 20 per cent of the business. I believe Dubai will witness a decline in the number of visitors. "Visitors will now have to shorten their visits to two months instead of three and will be spending less money. It affects business and the emirate's image," Saw san, another travel agent, said. Nano, from a Dubai transport company, said: "The DNRD should have given more notice. People come here expecting to stay three months but they can only stay two months," he said. --------------------------- Is this specifically directed at SW's? No, I don't think so. But, once again, they get caught up in the broad sweep of the govt's broom. Besides spending less money, any (and I don't know if any do use this method for their visit visas as compared to sponsors) SW's will also have their legal residence period shortened. And so their time to recoup their expenses and make a profit will also be shortened. This will not effect a-lists as they can afford the "ghost" work visas (for jobs that don't exist). It's all the "standard" visitor SW's that MIGHT be effected, the ones that keep prices down by providing "low cost" alternatives (there is a reason the CIS don't like the chinese). Could this effect prices, length of a standard ST, or accepting an early LT rather than pushing for the early ST and late LT? Certainly, given the potential of making money here, new girls will arrive to replace old, but, given a quicker turnover, will the current "standards" continue? Will just have to see. But news items like this always make me nervous. Paranoid? Probably. But it hurts when you find that excellent provider, the one you put into your starting rotation, and she's gone before you know it. Certainly a good way for the govt to increase profits: more airline tickets, more "initial" visa fees. Note: Those staying in five-star hotels are exempt from the new ruling. Makes sense: Guess if you're spending hundreds of DOLLARS per day in a 5 star hotel, they won't be putting a time limit on THAT. --------------------- Sporadic sent me this tune: I Like Chinese by Monty Python

Pedant time: The song is "Love IS the drug" by Roxy Music, which of course, included Brian Ferry (Half marks.) The Monty Python song "I like Chinese" is perfect for our Asian studies Prof. Lloyd b. Ravo ( pm me an email and I will happily supply a copy of the song.) How about "She´s a beauty" by the Tubes? Gotta love the P4P oriented songs! (same offer if anyone needs a copy) As for Robert Palmer, we would need to include "Simply irresistable." I suppose we would have to include "Roxanne" by the Police as well. Barcrawler, you are now condemned to musical hell for all time by invoking the name Neil Diamond. Cheers, Sporadic

Visit visas: Bravo et al, I only wish that this would be a problem for p4p girls. If they really came for 60 days and then went home, I would be a happier punter (better variety, less guilt, lower prices.) Sadly, since they almost ALL plan on a one year stay to recoup "expenses" the only difference is how long you overstay your visa, thirty days more or less is not really going to make a difference. My ex-stalker Irina is heading back in July (avoiding those slow summer months) and calling it quits after 7 months. Good for her. Cheers, Sporadic

Roxanne - I Prefer the Eddie Murphy version in the film 24 hours As for Musical Hell - I was there last Thursday, The York Band doing "Dangerously In Love ", so now I am seriously worried. If anybody's intrested in the Thompson song. http://www.alphalink.com.au/~sfy/RT/Lyrics/Amnesia.html#TOTT
