Had to go to Nha trang in Vietnam last week on a small job - an interesting experience, got an email address for "Jacks Bar" Nha trang - and ex Brit Jack passed on some good advice, and I ended up stopping at a nice, comfortable ,new,cheap hotel next to his bar, "Dream Hotel" walking distance form the Airport, and right on the beachfront; US$12 for the smaller size room I took. Nha trang is aqtually very nice, probably equate it to Hua Hin in Thailand, the government have done a great beachfront development, theme park, kids swimming area, mall paved, palm trees etc, be an ideal place to "hide-away" or perhaps take a Girl for a few days. As to local talent, Jack said plenty around, but like anywhere, you need to know the rules, and as prostituition still a dodgy issue ion Vietnam, I was not that desperate to find the constabulary knocking on my door ! He told me that the "Sailing Club" was a good place, where university girls went, who spoke a little english, and wanted an extra earn - but they ask for, and usually get, US$50 short time .... had a lookat this place, actually a selection of open air restaurants on the beach, with a central bar - but not sign of any obvious P4Ps, and of course the place basically shuts down around 1-2am. Walked back to the Hotel and had half a dozen samlor and motorbike guys approach with various offers, girl / very beautiful / f***ing / $US10 all got a mention, but perhaps not quite the desperate I was, i refained from riding off into the slums on the back of unknown Mr Viets Fake honda ! Few Vehicles, but seems 10,000 motorbikes here, most are indeed copy Hondas from china, cheap and not much good apparently, also, local contact is usually done on the back of a bike, hence probably not quite as many motorcycles as i imagined, just the same ones going round and round - the Guys ride up beside the girls, and if interest shown, negotiations take place ! Whilst some complain about double standards/pricing in LOS, it is open season on tourists in Vietnam - again, if you know the way around, many hair salons on the outskirts of the town, front as brothels, and yes, $5-$10 is the rate here, but it would take a little time, or have a local on side, to exploit this avenue. Flight from Saigon to Nha trang an hour, cost me 5,500bt return, - certainly if you are in Vietnam, think it is a nice spot to visit, but probably pay to take your P4P with you -

Been 3 times to Nha Trang and love the place.....heading back that way next year.
Trouble with Vietnam is that most hotels(but not all) won't allow you to take a girl back to your room.
Still when you meet up the girls usualy know if your hotel is compatable or at least know of a cheap short time place....
Viet women yum yum.......
Oh another good hotel is the Que Huong Hotel on Tran Phu Blvd just down the road from the Sailing club (staggering distance)

yes, I have been to Nha Trang too. But, my visit was over 5 years ago. It was a great trip. Always wanted to go back.
And I agree w/ Maxxy about the hotel situation. That is the main reason I have stayed away. It was such a pain in the ass to meet some girl, then not be able to take her back to your room. I know there are ST hotels (love hotels), but those are always scary to me. I have never been comfortable dropping my drawers in an unfamiliar place. Since most hotels don't allow girls overnight,
My recommendation is to find a hotel that allows visitors in the daytime. That's what I did. Meet a girl. Then the next day, around 10am, she'd come over for shag, then she and I could go to lunch, then back for another shag, etc... Hell, the hotel in Saigon allowed girls to stay until 11pm.

I'm a little surprised by the "where university girls went, who spoke a little english, and wanted an extra earn". Never saw anything like that in sailing club. The girls there are either "good girls" or working girls. Working girls are usually there every night, from 11 pm. Before they usually go to disco (yes, in nha trang you go to disco at 9 pm and they close at 12 !). 50 $ is a maximum in nha trang, you can usually get them cheaper(30/40 $).

I was told a few around then - as it was the end of a term - and they were trying to get some extra money before going to their homes, dont think they were a permanent fixture - I gather there is a Uni in the area.

Heard from a friend, who has spent most of his working life in S.E. Asia ( Asian Development Bank employee) that Haiphong is the very BEST city in all of Asia, perhaps the world. When he described Haiphong as being 'best' he considered all aspects: people, scenic, surroundings, hotels, girls, food +drinks, culture.
Any bro has Haiphong experience?

I have been Hai Phong long time ago with my Vietnamese GF, too many things might be changed drastically.
Do Son Beach (20Km from Hai Phong and about 100 from Hanoi) was known as the resort for the French who lives in Hanoi as Vung Tau was for who lives in Saigon.
I wasn't impressed apart the sandalwood trees back the beach.
It's a summer beach, because they have a cold winter.
Not far from there there is Ha Long bay, the most beautiful place I have ever seen on this planet.
About the girls, my favourites are from Hue or from Central Highlands Region in general because of the good mix with khmer blood.
The best place for large choise of the almost 50 different ethnics in Vietnam was, and I bet still is, Saigon.

First time post here. So, forgive me for any mistakes.
I read and read and read this forum. So much info provided here by many bros. I wanted to thank you all. My chance to share with what I experienced in VN. Last time I visit LOS was 1989. I planned to visit LOS in June. But, I had to cancel due to work. I am trying to setup a trip to LOS in Oct or Nov time frame. I am looking forward (and wish to have a chance) to meet some bros from this fourm for a few beers.
I agreed with all that in VN (except for Saigon) it is tough to bring girl back to the hotel after 22:00 hour. One way I use to get around this problem. Have the girl rent an extra room in the same hotel. Then you can get with her later.
Hai Phong is not much for fun.
Do Son was French resort in colonial days. Beach is not very good. But, it is a good place for R&R. There are some MP in Do Son where you can have ST for $10 - $15 USD. If you want to bring girl back to your hotel go for vilas converted to hotel. These places have separate building. which make thing easier to bring girl back. Or you can talk with guard at the gate. He can call girls for you too.
Ha Long, yes lots of fun.
IMHO it is the most beautiful place on earth.

Nha Trang. yes very nice & beautiful beach. Many things to do here. One if my favorite is mud-bath (in private pool.) A short taxi ride to out skirt is a really nice mud-bath & mineral pool place (with MP). Very relaxing afterward. Specially, after an all night activities.
