vietnam is a difficult one, nice country and beautiful girls but not very guest friendly. i can only speak for saigon and do not know much about hanoi, but nightlife in saigon is generally better than hanoi. in saigon try the classic "apocalypse now" and the bars in the area around it. there are also some dicos were a lot of freelancers hang around, just ask a local txi driver which one is the most popular right now. saigon has also some illegal and hidden brothels also have to ask taxi driver about it, as they are changing quick. hotel wise it is impossible to take ladies with you as they are all not guest frienldy! remember that vietnam is still a socialist country! nevertheless the girls usually know some private sort of b&f places or small hotels which are usually not checked by the police. so best thing would be not check in a big international hotel but smaller places with a maximum of up to 10 rooms as they are usually not observed by the morality police and therefore you will not have a problem taking guests with you!

I stayed at the Bong Sen Hotel in HCMC back in January. Highly recommended. They have an in-house masseuse who will provide a "happy ending" for a few extra dong. No pun intended.

Major Vietnamese police extortion racket aimed at foreigners caught with girls in flagrente, some girls are in cahoots with the cops and the fine is $500 US. And up. Foreigners are routinely shadowed by the secret police. So basically, if you want Vietnamese girls go to Cambodia, or Macao.

I agree with Chateaujade entirely.
Why go to Vietnam at all when Cambodia is full of Vietnamese girls! The plus is that when you get tired of Vietnamese chicks you can try out a few of the local Khmer girls. Plus there are dozens of guest friendly hotels in Phnom Penh to take them back to.

I've been to vietnam many times and the situation is not as bad as described.
Many girls availlable in bars and discos (apocalypse now is a good place in saigon, don't pay more than 50 $). It is safer to avoid girls working in the street or at the beach, and choose them in bars or discos where foreigners go. The bars owners usually filter the girls they allow in so that their customers have no problem. Of course always put your valuable in a safe. Also avoid gogo bars where girls sit outside and waive at you. The objective is to make you pay lots of drinks and the girls are said to steal.
As concerns the police, sometimes the police pressure is a bit strong for political reasons, or 2/3 month before the tet feast (lunar new year), because the police needs money for the feast. It can be avoided with some precautions, such as you and the girl taking two different taxis. Anyway, the girl will know what to do...
As concerns hotels, you cannot bring a girl at night. You have to go to hotels who pay the police (e.g. luc fuc in saigon, 20$ ST, 30$LT, the girls get 5$/10$ commission from the hotel). It is also possible to stay in these hotels, they are OK. The best thing is to book only one night in a regular hotel, and ask an experienced girl to show you an hotel where you can bring girls. They will indicate a clean and safe hotel without problem. You can do that in all cities.
Prices for a beautifull girl. 50 $ in saigon (of course for very very beautifull it can go up to 100 or more...). Outside saigon 20/40$.
I have alwways found beautifull, friendly, and sometimes sentimental girls in vietnam and never had any problem. I like particularly the facts that girls are not too professional.
If you meet a girlfriend there remember that any girl who makes love with you after a few hours or a few days is surely a taxi girl. "Good girls don't", unless they know you long time and you are a good candidate for wedding.

Why do Vietnamese girls give the best bbbj's? I read it so many times, then I went there last year, (saigon) and it was very true. I stayed at the Saigon Prince Hotel, nice, a little spendy but nice, they do not allow girls to visit the hotel after 9 pm.
Very strong undercurrent or negative vibe in vietnam, I could not put my finger on it but it was there for sure. Did anyone else feel that? Of course the asian smiles were everywhere but there was this unmistakable feeling also.
