hi im off to phnom penh in april, dont know what hotel to stay at.has anyone stayed at the favour hotel, new york hotel,cafe california hotel.are all hotels in p.p guest friendly.has anyone got any other recomendations.i have read that alot of people seem to like the pacific and hawai hotel,cant seem to log on to the hawai hotel web site though

Earlier this mnth I stayed in the Bayon Hotel (not far from the Jap Bridge) which was GF. Staff were friendly & overall pretty OK 3 * hotel. Around USD40 incl ABF. Only thing I did not like was the internet connection they offered which was too slow & way too expensive.

I can recomend the "THE BRIGHT LOTUS GUESTHOUSE"
It really is a hotel,fairly new and clean.I stayed there last Oct [7 nights]and Dec.[10 nights] One person $12 per night,aircon cable tv,fridge,hot water etc My {Khmer} girl stayed with me every night,and I got sideways looks from the manager untill he got used to it. Located at # 22 St 178.Only 30 m from the river front.Their food was also good

Walkabout Hotel was OK run by an Aussie with Khmer and Vietnamese freelancers in his bar. That was a few years ago tho. I sent him an email and he picked me up at the airport. www.walkabouthotel.com

I stayed at the Angkor Hotel when I was in PP. 10$ a night with aircon and cable TV, has a 24 hour bar with some cute girls working there as well. Is near the Heart of Darkness bar too, which has a lot of freelance Khmer girls. Is on street #148 if I remember correctly.
It's very guest friendly, in fact on nights when I came home alone the night clerk was always hassling me about why a girl wasn't with me, and trying to get me to take a girl from his friend's massage parlor.

Walkabout is definately one of the better choices, 24/7 bar and food, and its close to Howies and the hostess bar on the corner. (Cant remember the name, owner drives a very well preserved old mercedes)
Last time there was a year ago though, things might have changed.

thanks for the info,opti are the rooms decent at the angkor.also was thinking about staying at the walkabout, but read about things going missing from rooms.so will defintely go there for a few beers,but not stay. ill think ill try the angkor cheers opti.
madfrog me and my mate chris should be arriving in phnom penh on the 2 of april after a few days play in bkk.if you want to go out for a few beers get in contact. thanks a lot for all the info......
