I am considering a visit to Vietnam over New Year. Are there any girl friendly hotels in Ho Chi Minh that anyone can recommend ?
Also any guidance on where to visit at night would be welcome.

There are really no thailand style girl friendly hotels in Vietnam with the exception of mini hotels. Here are the basic guidelines
1. Some of the lower end hotels have massage parlors where the girl will come to your room. Bong Sen, star, etc
2. Any girl can come to your room before 10 pm by leaving her id at the desk and departing before 10 pm. This will require early preparation
3. the New world is a nice hotel, you can rent a room for a girl for about 50 if you are also a guest.
4. Most massage parlors give handjobs.
5. Some beauty shops are a front for prostitution. Room in the back
Bargirls or their madam will direct to a minihotel. Problem, payoff for madam, and mini hotel.
If you find anything different, i'd like to know.

PS I am posting from Vietnam and so far that is all I can think of but if I find it more interesting in the next couple of days I will follow up on this post. Yes mini hotels best bet for GF hotels might have to buy a room for them even if they don't use it.

On my first trip to Nam I stayed at the REX. I don't reccomend that place at all. They are totally against any girl even coming into the hotel, let alone go up to your room. My Nam GF is a normal girl, but was given the total look of distain to even wait in the lobby for me.
Second trip I stayed in the New World Hotel. It is a nice place, and if you stay there make sure you upgrade your room so you can get the free buffet/happy hour. New World does not have any problem with you taking girls up to your room during the day, but they can not stay overnight.
I spent a couple of nights with Nam GF in some small hotels right near the New World (Forgot Their Name), but they were amazingly real nice, and clean. They even had safes in the room. I am thinking about just staying in those next time. They seemed fine if you don't want any girl/room hassles.
Anyplace near the New World Hotel is a good location. All the after hours bars are in that area.
I also went with Nam girl to her hometown of Phan Tiet. It is very nice beach resort, with great new beautiful places to stay. No girl room issues there at all. Maybe the whole girl to the room thing is just in the big cities. Maybe someone else can give more info on that.

Just back from HCM city last week. Found at least two hotels in Cholon are girl friendly. The 1st one is Tokyo Hotel. a 2 stars hotel, $22 or $20 without breakfast for the girl. Staff only speak Chinese and Vietnamese.
The 2nd one is Phuoc Loc Tho hotel on Su Van Hang st close to the new An Dong market (New Winsor Hotel). $12 to $15.
Both Hotels located in Cholon Q5 area.

Both Hotels are owned and operated by Cholon tourist. Tokyo Hotel has a very nice KTV with lots good looking girls and 24 hours massage. Hotel Phuong Loc Tho has a large seceletion of massage girls you can choose you own girls in the lobby area. Also one of the cheaper one in town. 50000D per hour compared to 70000D and up (ask for Mai, you will love thsi love 23Y lady).

They only charge $5 if the girl stays overnight and they call you before they will let her go (my kind of hotel). They do take the girls ID. Also they lock the front door and a guy sleeps right in front of the door so very safe and no attitude about what you do. If you need a good hotel I highly recommend it plus it has an elevator. They also don't look down on your girl in anyway. Basic room $15

Do they have an in-room safe?
Even if they hold the girl's ID, anything left in the room is subject to the staff. (who probably know how to open the safe anyway, I guess)
