thats our plan for christmas, besides advice not to do it, i d need some help regarding paperwork, the bike will be shipped from amsterdam to thailand, customs here are under control, what about crossing the border?
and what places to visit in laos?

Getting a bike into laos can be difficult. I presume your talking a Hog - you'll be asked for tips all the way. I rode from C.Mai to Laos, we didnt take the bikes over the border - they said we'd havve to rent a pick up and drive them over; cant remember what fees were suggested. But roads there were very bad, dirt, dust, mud pot-holes. Would love to join you.

I think CMai to NongKhai was 2 days each way - took it pretty easy through mountains etc. Great roads in Thailand, but not Laos. Would suggest a road bike ( I borrowed a freinds Honda Steed, looks nice, but no guts) to the border, and a dirt bike for Laos.
