Anyone know about Puerto Galera in PI, specifically Sabang Beach? Apparently it has go-gos, discos, FLs, etc. So I'm wondering if it's a kind of smaller version Patong.
I like Patong, as I enjoy a bit of snorkeling and scenery along with my P4P so wondering if Sabang will be a good alternative. Lonely Planet says the BG scene is dying out there, so would like to hear from recent visitors there.

Puerto Galero like Patong?! Good heavens, not when I was there, no.
I was there about 8 years ago, and it did not seem particularly party-like. In fact, only Angeles in the north had an obvious P4P scene; nothing like Thailand's though.
Maybe things have changed.

PG is a diving village with 4 girly bars. The girls in the bars cater to hairy, wrinkled divers who have been on the piss for 45 years.
The diving is pretty good though. It’s a renowned destination for technical diving.
In fact, only Angeles in the north had an obvious P4P scene; nothing like Thailand's though.
Indeed, the p4p in the PI is far superior to Thailand’s. In quality, that is. Not quantity.

I was there last year. It's alot closer to being like Koh Samet than Phuket. Although its even smaller than KS. Just a row of bars/restaurants along the beach. Very limited selection. I brought my own from Manila and was glad I did. The beaches are great though.

Compared to what else is on offer in the PI, the beaches in PG are utter crap. There is obviously the unavoidable Boracay, but more hidden gems can be found in Malapascua, Pagudod and especially Palawan.

Unless you're jonesing for a dive, skip PG and goto Borocay. Great beach (although not this time of year), some limited FL action. Agree with above posts: bring a date from MNL...tons of girls there will to travel with you. Let us know how it goes...the Filipinas are wonderful. Anyone know of any Filipinas (FL, etc) working in BKK who are available???

Are the beachs in PG that bad? And Boracay's better?
As I've been to LOS about 20X already, I'd thought I'd give the PI a look this year. I'm hearing mixed reports about it so far. It seems the P4P scene doesn't match the scale and convenience as LOS, so maybe finding a regular girl to travel around with is the way to go. Or maybe I'll just go back to Phuket....

The beach at Borocay can be very, very nice. Alternatively, if you're there after a big storm, it can suck. But overall, it is one of the nicest stretches of beaches in Asia. Not much to do there except lay out, watch the locals, drink, eat (good food), dance, and drink some more. A very relaxed place. Phuket is completely different. The beaches at PG suck, and there's nothing to do there except dive and drink. Again, as for girls - take one from Manila to Borocay. Make sure to get one that likes to wear a bikini, since not all Asians/people do.

Like a said before, LOS is superior in quantity, but if you want quality try the PI and you will be hooked. I know I am. Maybe I just got lucky in the PI (3 year expat) and extremely unlucky in LOS (2 years expat), but for me there is no comparison. Filipinas (both p4p and non-p4p) win hands down.
I just can’t imagine traveling to a beautiful beach with some non-English speaking ho from Nana or SC. “Where you from” and “What you drink” only goes so far.
In the PI, get your pick at Burgos, LA café, Greenbelt or the MP’s in QC. Or take a trip to Angeles City. It’s a meat market, yes. But far less dingy and repulsive then Patong or Pattaya.
