For those of you contemplating a visit to Bali, its still alive although not a shadow of its former self.
Was there in Dec-Jan03 and basically the night life area has relocated down towards the 66 Disco.
The old Legion St. nightlife (Sari club area) and Bounty disco are pretty dead with just a few beer bars operating.
Still some freelancers floating around the bars and Bounty, but much more down near Disco 66
In some street running at 90 deg of Legion St (about 400m to the north of the Disco 66 area) is a row of new bars with music and yes girls. The nightlife spills out onto the street and it is well patrolled by the polisi and security.
Try the "SPY BAR", some cracker girls in there. About 12 midnight the ladies migrate down to 66,
66 goes until about 4-5 am and cost 50000Rp to get into, so many of the girls are looking for a kind sponsor to pay their way in.
No they wont f*** you for that, costs a little bit more than 60000Rp
The cost of a 66 girls for the whole night, is running at 250000 to 350000Rp depending on the hour, ie 12.00, 2.00 or 4.00.

Thanks for the update Craigoz. Tho I have never really been a big fan of Bali - owing the the large number of tourists that flock there every year.
The girls are all too aware of guys needs and tend to use that knowledge to their benefit. To make a memorable experience, its better to head into Jawa and into one of the smaller cities likes Bandung, Solo and Yogyakarta. The girls are not too familiar with tourists. and YES..........that's whee you can get a real GF experience. They are curious about who you are, where you come from, what the life is like out in your region. Take the girl out for a few drinks, a coule of niteclubs.........she'll know what you want and will be more than happy to oblige (the other option being her sickly Indonesian bf). 
At the end of your tryst with her, you dont feel like having limited yourself to a transaction. Buy the girls a few clothes, give her some Uang Rokok (Cigarettes money) and everyone involved is happy.........

But your in Jakarta, why not try Bali.
Had two of the best BJ's every at Xmas and shagged in the pool. The girl was very good at her job and its not expensive if you pick the right girl in the right mood.
Spend 2 1/2 years in Jakarta, so managed to suss out a little about the good, the bad and the ugly ones.
Never been into the jungle bunnies (Jawa, Bandung etc)although tried a few in Pelebarnratu.
I draw the line when their nuckles drag on the ground as you walk them home.

I've got another regular posting on Dubai. Doesn't mean I reside there. Or for that matter Seoul. Just a wayfarer mate. Don't mean to scare anyone off, but I DO NOT SEE the relevance of being a resident at either places for a FR. We're all here to exchange knowledge so either of us doesnt end getting ripped or hiking up the prices for others - I guess that is the foundation understanding of these forums.
Indonesia is a big coiuntry. Then again......to each his own. I'd prefer a trip to the interiors of Jawa any given day rather than Bali. Same goes on account of the joints. I do not frequent many new joints. Prefer hanging to the old ones and getting new people there feed me info everytime. Guess ALL I am is a lazy bum.......peace brothas !

Yep, Double 6 and the beach off Benny's Café are good places to pick up and meet freelancers. Still, I think you might have slightly overpaid...

Probably did but it was my first time back in 6 months.
Still she stayed with me for a good 12 hours and performed extraordinary over that time, so I have no complaints.
I normally offer about the 300000Rp mark, even when in Bats, which equates to about 1500 Bht. Its a fair price for good service.
I wouldn't think you would get it too much cheaper, but correct me if I am wrong. I am a little out of touch with the current pricing structure thesedays.
As to Bali in general, the numbers are down, for local ladies. If fact you could say its competetive looking for the ladies (at least a good looking one). A lot harder than Thailand thesedays.
If I had to take a stab I would guess the ratio of ferangs looking to local ladies at the street with the bars was about 1 to 1.5, certainly not as good as what I expected.

No worries...! The last time I was in Bali was in October 2001, this was some time ago... I remember having paid Rp 180000 for almost 24 hours, a nude photo session and two meals for a freelancer who was quite beauyful and in her very early twenties.
I met her outside Benny Café at the beach. She proposed to go to Double 6 in the evening after I dropped her with her friends, but I went to Kuta and partied along with the tourists and got laid for free. I need to add that she had a boyfriend from the US who sponsored her, maybe I was only tipping her.
During this trip of three weeks she was the only local (well not really local...) girl I had in Bali. I had a similar one for two nights in Sengiggi, that went for Rp 150000 and offered the same services. I had her for two nights in a row. On Gili Trawangan I banged a few days for free with an older lady who has a traditional massage place, but she was really older...
At last I was making sweet eyes to a dancer in Ubud, but this was not about sex of course... I stayed with her for a few days and took many photos of her. Her parents were not so happy, as they thought she would quit dancing and follow to my country... But as said this was not for sex, she is still my penpal today.
As I was working and backpacking in Indonesia during my younger years, I am still tempted to bargain hard and fall back into this going along for free, just to get laid for the night. I even paid the same rates for the local transportation as the locals, those the were days... Memories!

the club u were refering, does it has a pool?? if so, its Route 66. during the high seasons, they throw foam parties on weekends and those beautiful chixs in their tiny 2 piece bikinis literally bath themselves there!! 
just gotta be careful with the taxis, they always try to rip u off with a damn high cab fare!!

Yes, it has a pool out the back by the ladies toilet area. Part of a hotel complex.
Not a bad place to sit, have a drink and look at all the local the talent walking by. Even they need to piss sooner or later.
