All my Thai friends just say Songkran is "hot" or "dangerous" or smile knowingly.
This is my frist April in Bangkok.
Any of you veteran types nkow what I can expect? Good to have a farang perspective!

If you go out, you will get wet. It's not that they're REALLY f_cking with you or being malicious, it's all in fun. Just make sure you carry your wallet/cash/etc in a plastic bag. If you're really concerned about getting wet, you can always stay in the safe haven of your hotel room and bar.

once you have been in khao sarn road as a farang you will always try to avoid thailand at these days. it is for sure a lifetime experience but once you had it i bet you, you will try to escape next songkran!
i myself come back to bangkok on april 15th! escaped already!

During Songkran you will get wet. People will splash water even from vans/pickups using plastic pumps....bastards! Quite a few guys will just wait for you in the corner of most of the streets with a plastic bowl full of powder and water and will sometimes require your permission, when you pass by, to put some bits of that stuff on your arms and cheeks....
Sukhumvit will become a real mess but who cares? Just get some fun.
