like a mad men i am thinking of marrying my thai gf can anybody tell me how long it would take me to get a visa for her to stay in england and have you got helpful story to help put it on this forum as not such what forum should go on and this is one we all read

This isn't an exhaustive response but the experience of a few buddies has been...
If she has money in the bank in Thailand, the Embassy may well issue a visa if she wanted to visit UK for a holiday, a Ýpart of a package your. The Embassy may well assume that she has good reason to return to LOS, and not dissapear Ýonce arriving in UK. let her apply and you stay out of the way.
I you hasn't got money, then it could take 3 months to get a visa even if you marry her, but you may well have to be show all your financial details, and prove that you have been seeing her so time before marriage, i.e not a marriage of convenience.

long road!.................option one place 40,000 baht in her account and she can go tourist visa! 5 days!.....option two sponser her visa tourist 8o,ooo (visa is only a few) that will get her there after alot of scrunity. Option 3 fiancce visa, dig up photos make them phone records , etc, 4 months... Marraige visa......8 months......to a year.............must satisfy every doubt that your really committed, (and she is away from places that have alot of p4p prefed)......read the info it can be done......i made it but it cost an arm and a f_cking leg.....ask yourself alot how she feels ! are you ready to play to win (or loose)........remember most girls would marry any of us, so take your time do it slow, and be able to pull out......above all stay boss!.............support her fine, but you call all the shots.

The only problem is DG has I would think never applied for these types of visa's to go to the UK.....so the informatuion is probably good for Australia.
The UK rewrote the rules around visas / marriage in the last 18 months. There are some interesting new restrictions. I've given robert1967 some guidance by PM.
But I agree....I have seen 3 impressive posts from DG this week....keep up the good work Tuggie!

Actually, I was also impressed very much a few minutes ago by another of DG's recent posts. The one on the "did a bros GF tonight" thread. DG, keep up the good work.
Although I have no experience on the visa matter myself, from talking to a few people I conclude that showing a pattern and evidence of some travel to other places helps. Like having her go and come back in short trips with you to other places -try those that do not require visas like countries in SEA (Singapore, Malaysia, etc.).

Anyway, back on topic. ÝRobert, 1967 was the year I first got laid. ÝWhere were you born son...
Seriously, The main thing to do is to make plans and create a paper trail, phone bills, (don't use phone cards as there is no record of the numbers called). Letters, back and forth. Emails, pledging your love and support. Plane tickets, hotel bills with both names, etc...
Proof that you have full time employment, (not self employed unless you have records for at least five years showing profits, etc. bank statements, that you have sent her money and are willing to support her.
I tried to get my Barbadian born wife of 6 years (no she was not 6 years old) into UK after living in Germany with her, however because I was not employed in UK, they turned her down, she only got a tourist visa.
I had plenty of cash Ý40k+ in my UK account after selling my business in Germany. I had intended to start a business, but that was not good enough. ÝIn the end I said f_ck it, and moved back to Germany.
Check out getting Married in Denmark, it is less restrictive and can be organized through the Danish tourist office. ÝI did it, and all went smoothly. She will need to get a "Schengen" Visa to enable her to visit Denmark and other EEC countries. Ý
Do not tell UK Authorities that her trip to UK may end up as a wedding in BK. ÝMariage in BK is recognized throughout EEC, but that would be my last resort. as it is quite expensive, you both have to stay in BK at least 4 days... On second thoughts though, it will certainly be a lot cheaper tha feeding all your friends in UK. ÝThen just have a simple wedding in LOS. ÝYou can even slaughter the sick Buffallo, he's going to die anyway...

I bumped into a guy who works for the UK visa office in BKK on my last trip, he told me that its relatively easy to get a holiday visa for TG into the UK. I told him that I had read some were that If the TG had ever worked in a bar then forget it, he told me that was rubbish.
As the other bros have said all you have to do is prove that you have been in contact for a reasonable period of time so make sure you keep any records.
I dont know about marriage visa etc but I would suggest that she comes (to were ever you live) first anyway to really see if she could live there before you take it to the next level.
