I won't have a problem if BK likes to browse through my messages.
I wonder what the use of your thread is. I think an administrator has the right to see if all is going to the rules and that includes PMs.

The entire point of a Private Message is that it is private.
If the PM facility is not private then members should not be led to believe that it is.
BK's comments would be welcome here...... I'm but a humble member, and a virgin at that!

The only private thing about PM is that they are not public (en mass).
You probably know that some members, including myself, feel that also PM received are eligable to be put on the board as the PM because property of the receiving member.

I would think that a member who wants to keep something really private could send another member a PM on BKK with his e-mail address.
Member 2 could then send his e-mail to member one and they could send PMs to each other at their hearts content.
As you say why they don't want to send a PM on here, who knows?

1. At what point were you told that the feature was truly and utterly private, other than the feature uses the word "private" in its name?
2. Try reading the terms of service for Hotmail (and presumably, Yahoo mail, Google mail, etc). Those terms of service explicitly state that the mails you send through their service can be read by them at any time, although this language is usually surrounded by references to law enforcement or legal action.
Hell, at one point there was a big stink, because the Hotmail agreement said that Microsoft owned the information sent through it.
