Gentlemen,
I understand there is a religious hol on 23rd Feb.
Since this is right in the middle of my next tour, I am concerned over possible bar closures etc.
Does anybody know impact?

Flying in on February 23rd, Makha Bucha Day, and I too am unsure of the entertainment situation. Any BKK resident able to confirm what's closed or likely to remain open?

If this is Big Buddah Day, which I think it is, all the bars are closed on that day. Last year, there were some freelancers in Nana Plaza, but not much on Sukhumvit.

Its my last day there and I usually put off my family shopping responsibilities to the last day. Anyone know?

Anyone care to provide an update on what to expect on this important religous holiday? I've read that the ceremonies start early in the morning and continue in the evening under the full moon.
Anyone know what the nightlife will be like? Shopping? Malls? Etc? Is everything closed?
Also, is there any cool ceremonies to observe?

Not sure whether bars are closed or not, but if they are I know I really cool way of getting beer on that day (occasionally I forget to buy in advance, you see).
It goes like this. You go to a supermarket and say you want beer. They say, no way, cos it's a holiday. You say..... oh f*** it.. I can't be bothered sharing that tip with you. Where's UKShaga when you need him

arrived for stop over in BKK on a holiday 3 years ago and was SHOCKED by the completely closed Bars, Cowboy's, NEP's, Pat Pong's and everything. Found all my stop over (her) plans washed away, faded out...
Only the FL on the streets made a reliable source of satisfaction...
