This morning I received an email from the U.S.C.I.S. that my fiance' visa application has been approved. I'm curious about what to expect next. Is it immediately sent to the U.S. embassy for the intv portion or will it still need to be approved in the U.S. at some other U.S.C.I.S. facility. The approval email came from the National Customer Service Center so I'm thinking the next stop is the U.S. embassy. If I understood my Thai attorney correctly this morning she could be in the U.S. within several months. Anyone have experience with this process and could offer some insight about what's next. My application was accepted for processing on Aug 17 and on Oct 24th was approved. LS

I hired an attorney and they are taking care of everything. I'm basically just curious how long there usually is between the approval letter to the embassy interview. I know the general steps and that it usually takes anywhere from 6-12 months. Could she actually be in the U.S. within several months? I will check out your websites. LS

Of course Double D. I spoke with him this morning. I'm just trying to get some idea of other BTF members experience with timelines. I have received the NOA 2 (notice of acceptance 2 ) and my attorney said it could be several months from here. An attorney cannot give you an exact date for the intv but can get pretty darn close. I'm very excited about the process and look forward to the tirac boarding that plane to the U.S. The attorney said at the beginning anything from 6 months to 1 year from application to approval. Just wondering if after 60 days I'm ahead of schedule. Maybe the below answers my question as I am past step 1 which can take 1-8 months: The steps involved in immigrating to the US via a K1 visa can be generally described as follows: 1. The US Citizen files the I-129F petition for the foreign fiance (e). Approval is required before the fiance (e) may apply for the K1 visa. The petition phase is very straightforward. Approval timelines vary through the Service Centers, anywhere from one to eight months. Go here to see current times. 2. After the I-129F has been approved, the fiance (e) has 4 months from the time the I-129F was approved to obtain the K1 Visa at the US Consulate in the foreign country. This time period can be extended by a consular officer if required. The visa application process is generally similar in all countries, Although each Consulate will vary a bit in their requirements. Every K1 applicant will have a unique story to tell about how they got their visa. 3. Once you have the K1 Visa it is good for one entry into the United States within 6 months of the issue date. A K2 may enter up to one year after the K1, but a K2 may not enter the U.S. prior to the K1. 4. Once in the United States, you have 90 days to get married (see "Special Note" at question 3.7) LS

A funny story from the tgf. I asked her the other day if she was really sure she would be happy in America and her reply was: "If you live Malaysia, I want to stay Malaysia. If you stay Africa, I want to stay Africa. If you stay Germany, I want to stay Germany." at which point I asked, "What if I live in Alaska?" Her reply: "If you live Alaska I live one minute and then I die." LS
