Will be in BKK the end of the month. Wondering where on Suk. can I have my passport copied with the current stamp. So I don't have to carry my real Passport with me all the time. Will be staying at the Majestic Suites. Thanks ahead of time!

Why not ask the hotel if they have a copy machine? I would bet there is one somewhere in there.

There is copy shop in the Plenochit Center on the other side of the JW Marriott. They have color copiers. At one time a copy of your passport was sufficient, but many have reported recently that the police are cracking down it might be wise to have your passport at all times.

As I said before I think the risk of losing your passport outweighs the risk of having any problems with the Thai officals. A photocopy should suffice and if there are any issues you can have the police accompany you back to your hotel room to view the original that should be kept locked in the safe. When presented with these terms most police will accept the photocopy as long as you have you latest entry stamp copied. Obtaining a replacement passport if stolen could take upwards of 4 weeks from the US Embassy since 911. I do not think many can cool their heels stuck in Thailand for a extra month while waiting for a new passport. Having gone through this process before with the USA Embassy they could give a shit about your problems and there is no expedite service. Fortunately at the time my passport was returned after missing 3 days by a honest taxi driver.

Most hotels want a copy of your passport. All I do is ask them to make an extra copy for me and include the entry stamp as well.. I also clip a business card from the hotel to the copy. Mind you in 5 years I've never been asked for mine. Now that's asking for ttrouble

I agree. It's hard enough with the delays at the Airports here in the US. Just want to be on the safe side and keep my Passport as safe as possible. Thanks again for all your help.

As previously posted I was arrested for not carrying my passport even after getting my GF to bring it too the bar for the police to inspect it. Wasted a lot of time arguing with them but that is a no win situation and ended up paying the 1,000BHT fine ( yes I insisted on a reciept). Definately carry a COPY!!!!

Could this have been part of your problem? I always smile nicely, speak NO Thai and act dumb. All easy things for me to do.
