Just got back from BKK again (15 trips in 3 years  ) and I meet a guy that told me this story.
A UK guy was comming into thailand for the 2nd time ever, got to imagration and there was a massive queue so after waiting for 20 minutes he got borred and walked further along to an empty desk and jumped the barrier  .
I actually met this guy and he seemed a normal guy def no drunk dick head. He said he simply could not wait to see his TGF waiting for him.
Some how he had manged to check into the federal by saying his white slip was in his bag and after several minutes off looking for it he said he would bring it down later. I told him he was f*****d
I told him to get straight to the UK embassy and plead stupidity. I came up with 2 ideas one to loose his passport but that still could have a problem as they still have no record of him arriving, The better idea was to say that he gave the passport to a girl at the desk and after several minutes she walked off (as they some times do!) so he thought it was finished and picked it up and walked off.
Despite saying he would go to emabassy in the morning, apperently he went to Pattaya instead
As anyone else ever heard of this happening? and if so how did it resolve itself.

Another option is to hang onto his boarding pass showing he arrived in Bangkok. He probably has an exit stamp from the UK as well. Then when he departs, he could say he has no idea why the passport isn't in the system or he doesn't have a white card.
Your idea about saying he walked through when the girl left the desk is a good one too.
This guy isn't too bright. If he is detained for any reason while in Thailand, I think he will be in trouble. His embassy might be a good place to start, but eventually he is going to end up at an immigration office to clear this up.

I take your point and if I had not meet this guy myself I would not have believed it. "Jump the barrier" was his words, we all know its just a rope, but I was supprised he was not spotted. He would have been thrown straight in jail if he ran / had any problems with the police for def.
It was just a bloody stupid thing to do! plus his GF was not that hot either

I've heard something as silly
A guy in Playschool had one of the hottest chicks bar fined for him by two friends as a gesture (mainly cos they couldn't take her themselves and someone deserved her).
The recipient then sent her away figuring that the friends had played a practical joke on him.....and she returned to the bar.
"Your friend crazy" she said "He thinks I am katoey!!!"

Well I met the guy and he is a mate of a good mate of mine who checked into the federal at the same time as him and saw his passport, but who knows

UK citizens do not have their passport stamped when they fly out from England. His best bet is to plead insanity because he obviously is mentally unstable.

And people say all the dumb ones where shipped down-under,,, may I suggest the truth may be opposite.
Either way this guy needs to ACT NOW,, the longer it is left the more trouble and potential there is for increased trouble. Immediate advice from his Embassy would be a start,, and from there ( British soil) negotiations could be done for his surrender to immigration police, with the right connections he may well see the entry stamp added with only a medium sized fine and a few hours in detention.
Australian classy coloquialism has a saying for this situation,,, Stupid prick f***ed up.
