Does anyone know if Bangkok sells calling cards? While I am in Bangkok, I want to call home using a calling card so I don't have to worry about phone bills. Does anyone know if they sell these?

you will see many people on the streets with mobile phones and you pay a set rate to phone abroad.
never used them myself[e-mail home],but would imagine they are expensive.
but then again the locals use them a lot for in country calls,so maybe not too expensive.

If you are talking about a prepaid SIM card for your cell phone, then get the 1-to-Call prepaid SIM card. It is much cheaper for some reason to call back the the U.S then using any other phone or even a calling card. I used one to talk on the phone for about an hour to the U.S and did not use up all the baht on the SIM card.
If you are taking about a prepaid phone card, that you use at a pay phone or hotel phone, sorry can't help you there.

nokna, the mobile phones you are mentioning are all stolen! sure it is cheap to make calls with them but i would not want be the one supporting any cirme business by using their service!

those phones are not stolen, but the SIM cards are rigged with someone else number!!
all these overseas call are billed to these phone number subscribers who will have no idea what happened, until they r slapped with a 5 figured phone bill at the end of the month!! and when the number is cancelled, a new number is picked and rigged!! and it takes some inside job as well to retreive such info.
theres a syndicate running these scams, and they usually target foreign workers who need to make frequent IDD calls home!
griffin, u did the right thing! cos some poor guy will faint at the sight of their phone bill every month!!

sure, i have broken a lot of laws too.
but it is still a difference when both involved parties in p4p are on mutual agreement about what they are doing - for whatever reason!
but the mobile phone scam is certainly not agreed by the owner of the sim number!

Prepaid phone cards are for sale at most 7-11's or other stores. You can use them in the payphones, just like anywhere else.
