You pay the 700 if you want to use the toilets. 500 for leg-crossers who can wait to get on the plane. Really.

yup, the Passenger Service Charge (PSC) has indeed gone up to 700 Baht from February 1st. Interesting enough the Airports of Thailand PLC website (the governmental body that operates all Thai airports) still lists 500 Baht as current PSC: HERE More up-to-date info on the Suvarnabhumi Airport's website. Also the domestic flights' PSC will raise to 100 Bhat at the same time. Suvarnabhumi Vid.... with Thai/American accented English commentary Sarge

Thread title : What's the exit fee ? Having never contemplated leaving the country since my arrival so many years ago, my automatic and initial thought in response to the thread's title was to think of funeral costs. But the instructive and informative entry posts to the thread instantly reminded me of my former global insanity inclinations, which hopefully, will never return. For those of you who made the same false assumption it might be as well to know the temple costs are slightly higher than the departure fee demanded at other ports of exit. Whether you would wish to pay this amount of an additional charge when eventually leaving will of course not be entirely up to you, and will increase proportionally to the number of people who would wish to see you off at the time, inrespective of whether they wish to cry or cheer. Payment of any of these fees in instances of being physically deported against your will by external agencies, is another matter, which, gladly, I know nothing about. But I would assume in these instances that anyone who, unbeknownst to you, has arranged your mode of exit, would have to make some sort of payment towards the costs.

The departure fee is now included in your ticket cost and the 500 bht you use to pay separately is no longer. Believe this came into effect on 1 Feb. I left BKK the other day and did not pay anything.

It depends on when you bought your ticket. I had to pay the 700bt at the airline ticket counter when I left on Feb 8th. They then gave me the exit voucher. The airline also said that next time I bought a ticket to Thailand that the 700bt would be included in the ticket price. BTW, a sign at the airport also said that the DOMESTIC departure fee was being increased from 50b to 100b. I didn't even know there was a domestic departure fee.
