Have to purchase a water purifier on my next visit, any recommendations on type (long lasting, low maintenance and cost) / brand?

It'll be for my TGF's family home in Udon Thani.

Should I purchase one in BKK or get on in Udon??

I purchased one at HomeMart or the one next door and they had a vast range of them depending how much you want to spend and well you want the water filtered.
I got a six stage for 6,500 and like all of them you have to change and clean the filters about every 3 months.

Get it in Udorn.

They have Home Mart, Lotus, etc. I don't know a good brand.

Got a decent (if it performs as advertised) purifer for 7,300 baht. Filter good for a year (most likely will have to be changed every 6 months). Free deliver and install.

Got it at a side vender at Big "C" Udon Thani, 2nd floor shop that specifically dealt in water filters.

Figured worth the price for the health and welfare of TGF's family.

Has anyone heard of any problems with water filters in Thailand?? Place looked legit!!!

I suggest that you buy the Family some good olive oil instead!

Now if they have a water tank add some kero it will float on the top

thus killing any mosquitos ( no pun intended)

Thanks Jinjo,,,
I buy direct from Thai Government department of primary industries,, or the equivalent. The only problem is you have to wait until gov supported farms get theirs first,, but had little trouble getting 30,000 last season.

It's getting Isaan people to actually feed the fukers that is the problem.

Cheers
Mel

I was looking at one of the Mizumo purifiers with the water storage tank and hot/cold water, 5 stage etc in Homepro and the guy claimed we only had to change the major filter once every 5 years and the others every 2 years. That sounds good to me cos I can't be f***ed f***ing around with filters every few months. 22k all in.

ke in the West, you can buy water filters for all sorts of requirements, which means that different filters will be filtering off different things at different rates, so it might be advisable to know what each water filter is supposed to be filtering against the frequency need of changing the filters.

Filters have to replaced on a regular basis. Filters I use in the US are good for 3000 gallons. I only filter cooking and drinking water.
