I researched Thai average salary and I got this survey which says that Thai average salary is a lot higher than I've heard. As far as I know, new university graduates' salary starts from $300 to $500 at maximum. However,, this site (http://www.payscale.com/research/TH/State=Bangkok/Salary) says 573,639B for 1 ~4 years 780,058B for 5 ~ 9 years 1,419,815B for 10 ~ 19 years. are the average salaries. Are they correct?

That site looks about right, though could be more or even less; depends on the industry or sector.

My TGF was telling me the other day that her cousin, who works in a Nike/Adidas factory (a small one, maybe subcontract factory?) makes 13K Baht a month. She's been there for 13 years... My TGF was making 12K Baht per month, doing waitressing and a bit of the bookkeeping at the job she had. Neither she nor her cousin are college educated, though. - Balls

Salaries are going up for sure. We used to be able to hire girls out of uni for less than 10k. Not any more. Foreign companies are willing to pay big bucks for the right people. My missus is on more than eighty. I think I might retire as soon as she hits 200.

That's nice to hear. Economic growth, better wages for everyone. On a similar note, any job leads for a fresh Civil Engineer and expected salary? Cheers

I had heard that a cashier a Tesco's makes 5 000 Baht a month. Is that still the case? If it is, and the above figures are correct, then we are seeing a typical process: a growing difference between the lower wages and the middle-class ones. I always say that the difference between a country like Switzerland, say, and a third world country is that the difference between the pay of a lower scale job and a middle scale one is not so great: in Switzerland, a good job will pay maybe three times more than the cleaner's. In Thailand, it seems that the factor is more like ten or fifteen. Just thought I'd mention it.

Agree with Kenneth. I remember four or five years ago some friend who had just graduated from ABAC getting a job for 7k or 8k per month. Last year two friends who had graduated from a uni a lot less prestigious getting 15k+ per month.

It seems like inflation has been pushing the thai salary a lot. I contacted recruiting company early last year and for data netwrok engineer who can speak fluent english with more than 5 years experiences with at least CCNP and CCIE perferred wanted to be paid $1,300 ~$1,500. That time I felt too much but now definitely it must've gone up a lot.
