Hello, I was told during my last trip to Bangkok that when belivers pray to 4-Face Buddha in Erawan Shrine for help, we should pray in a anti-clockwise direction, starting from face 1( facing the entrance). Face1: Ask for safety and health Face2: Family matters Face3: Career Face4: Luck/ your wish Pls correct if I am wrong in any area, I will be going next month to the Erawan Shrine, thanks a lot.

Harry Porter, thanks for the valuable info...i've always wondered and when i ask believers they too at most times tell me "i don't know" or "i'm not too sure". ...but i thought one of the face has got to do with wealth? for my understanding its (not in order) wealth, health, love and career...as the least what i've been told before. thanks again dude!

I think its face no.4, luck/ wealth/ wishes etc. To be sure, it is the face whereby the hand holds a gold bar. Actually I am not very sure as well, thats why I started this thread hoping that some brothers can enlighten me.

it should be clock-wise. the one facing the entrance is the first face. and the last face with the hand holding the gold bar is the one that u pray for wealth! if u are making a donation of more than B1000, u may want to put it in a envelop with your mailing address. the Foundation will send u an offical receipt and letter with a blessing from the Lord Brahma!! please don forget to give thanks if your prayers are answered!! good luck!! regards, chrisboy

I don't know about the Erawan Shrine in BKK, but in most of Buddhist Asia, the tradition is to keep the temple/shrine/image, etc on your right as you circumabulate around it. So that would be a clockwise direction. This has been my experience in Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, India, and Sri Lanka. I have not had the good fortune to have much leisure time in LOS, but I would imagine that the same would be true here.

hmmm so its clock wise...ok good...caz i was generally following the direction of the people who were paying their respects on that day. so if the 4th one is wealth then well i guess i would be able to figure out what the other 3 would be...i guess.
