I have pretty much played most of the courses around Bangkok. Krungthrep Kreetha, Lam Lukka and Windmill are my favourites. Will be in BKK 11/9 to 11/16. Would love to hook with other bros.  BTW never tried with the caddies yet. Any experiences ?

Iba,

Sorry that I'll miss you on my trip as I am an avid golfer.  Outside of chasing Thai women, golf is a passion for me.  I will be in town for 10  days arriving 5 days after you.  You had mentioned you had played a lot of courses there.  As my buddy hates golf, is it possible to get out and play there as a single?  Would you suggest any particular courses?

Thanks,
Casey

Originally i was supposed to be there same time as you are.

Yes easy to get out and play as single. Don't bother making T time reservations. Don't take hotel taxis, they will ask for ridiculous amounts.

Pick up Golf in thailand book. I think it is 700 baht. That has addresses, directions, prices etc for most courses. U can just show that to any taxi driver and most of them will take u there for meter fare.  All of the golf courses will call you a taxi once you are done. Some places might take 20-30 minutes to get u a taxi but you can take your shwr in the mean time.

The green fee listed in the book are old but it does give u sport days at different places so u can go on cheaper green fee days.

Krugthrep Kreetha is my fav and it is the closest course. 1300 bath +200 caddy fee. For the second round u get discounted price. I believe Tuesday is sport day.

Windmill is tough and expensive. Lamlukka is far and they hav 3 nines. Panya Indra every one raves about and I didn't particularly care for.  Unico is next to Krunghthrep and is cheap not so well maintained course(600).

Get the book, that will give u an idea of all the courses and u could pick the ones u like.

On Bangna Trad high way there are about dozen courses. Thana city, Royal, Lake side Subhapreuk and so on.

The highest one way taxi i paid was about 400 to Lam Lukka. KK will be about 150. Most average around 200+ baht each way.

The real nice courses are outside BKK. Pattaya is golf heaven. Leam Chabang is very very nice.

Sorry could not list recommended courses other than the one's I listed. My moods change each time I play and the favourites change too.  That said don't miss KK.

Lam Luk Ka has 4 nines.

A&B is the Championship Course (East) at 7,012 yards, C&D is the Resort Course (West) at 6,605 yards.

Why they don't just call it 2 18's I'll never know.

Currently at 900B a round in the weeks including caddy...ridiculously cheap.

Laem Chabang has 3 9's...Jack Nicklaus designed....beautiful.

Does anybody play Navatanee any longer?  I always enjoyed Navatanee.  One of the strangest rounds of my life was there.  I had 14 pars and didn't break 80.  I had 3 doubles and a triple for an 81.

We used to play it regularly until they went up on the green fees from 350 to 2,000.  We then moved to Krungthep and played there for a few years.

Most of us have moved to Pattaya now so do not play BKK often.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I will try and get out to at least one course on my trip over there.  I've always wondered what it's like to play with a caddy.  Do you get to pick your own caddy like you do in the mp's, or are they just assigned to you randomly???

Iba, Where would I pick up a Golf in Thailand book?  Can this be bought at a bookstore?  I assume that by just showing up without a tee time, they won't hassle you like they do over here at some of my local courses.

No need to double check it...I play it all the time and I'm telling you.

I really don't make a habit of going around lying about how many 'nines' there are on golf courses...then making up the yardage....I really do have better things to do.

Yurune,

Sorry for not being clear. I wasn't doubting u at all. More of a note for myself.

Willmac : Yes you can just show up at most courses on weekdays. Not sure about weekends. I hardly play in BKK on wknds. Make sure the course is open. Some courses close on Mondays and some on Tuesdays I think.  Yes caddies are assigned to u randomly. You can  request for a different caddie and don't see why they won't. Asia book store shd have the book. Golf in Thailand is a different experience. Try to get out more than once.
