Not sure if there is thread already on this subject but sure like some advice before I head down the British Embassy. I am told this a one shot only thing so I want to get right first vist. Any advice would be well nice! I know to have as many documents as possible to cover the bases, mine and hers, but what about specific contacts at Embassy? anyone I can target to best start? Thanks all, 'cause I am crossing fingers and legs for this one......

Thanks H Very interesting, not sure why I missed this thread. I certainly am not in hurry to marry. I want my TGF to experience the Uk - I dont think she will like it, that's ok - I dont want stay here much longer myself - head for HK or Singapore - Bkk if I can get employment that pays enough (doubt it!). A 6 month visitors visa would be fine - I think the documentation is they key, but her family has a shellfish business and I dont think she will be able to produce the proof os self employment, even though she is part owner of the buisiness - this will be the only problem - could be a big one. Not sure how to get round it and I dont want to start making things up..... Any ideas welcome!!!

Yurune Yes I have read the other thread now pretty thoroughly and certainly want to ensure I have all the right paperwork and the story is true to boot! I am pretty confident, but nevertheless this is so important to me I will do anything to get it right first time.I think I sounded pretty blase about my girl on the previous post - not so, we are inseperable and if someone can help me in any legal way I will accept. i know what I have to do though and hopefully that will be enough - there were some pretty upsetting stories in the other thread, and I dont intend to in any way to end up failing. Thanks to one and all and I wish you all the best. I will be in Bkk at the end of next week should anyone be there willing to talk and help in any way - but in the end I know I have to do it myself. Thanks again.

Looking at the various threads on the visa subject in this forum doe not make very encouraging reading. It seems that the the Embassy (at least UK) Needs proof that 1. You have known each other for more than 5 minutes 2. She has a good reason to want to return home (money, property etc) 3. That you are financially solvent and will be able to support her - or that she can support herself. 4.That her intentions are genuine Then you might just get lucky... I am about to try myself in a couple of weeks and think I can meet all the above criteria - Caledonian I've sent you an e-mail on the subject, and a PM to TPE also who mentioned a company called 'Thai No 1' might be able to help. One agency I tried were only interested in a fiancee or marriage visa due to the low success rate of visit visas. A friend of mine had success using an agency - he said that all the problems he faced when trying to apply on his own dissappeared once he used the agency. The agency was actually recomended to him by the British Embassy! Paperwork that he should have bought with him but left in the UK didn't matter anymore, also he jumped the queue and got an interview at short notice. He did have to buy his girlfriend a return ticket before hand - which was worrying as he didn't know if she would get the visa until afterwards. This was about 12 years ago - they are now happily married and living in the UK. I guess the the rules have tightened up somewhat since then so maybe it is more difficult now? I agree it is somewhat annoying that people who enter the UK illegally are generally allowed to stay - complete with free housing etc, whereas genuine cases that will not be a burden on public funds are often refused. I understand also though that The Embassy can only give a visa if they can be 100% certain that the application is genuine.I am sure a lot of applications are not - maybe the majority. One interesting point though - I knew a thai girl who once worked P4P abroad, and she told me that for a price they can get a visa for almost any country -America, UK, Australia, and the rest of Europe. So who's providing those visas then!!! It appears that if they want to get a visa to do P4P they don't need to fool a farang - they Just need to pay a backhander to the right person. Any info on reputable agencys that can help process a genuine application would be most welcome - cheers flik

If you are a genuine case who can fulfill all the requirements, why pay for someone else to do it for you. I've never failed, but then I've never put in a bogus application.

Well my TG is going for her interview today - I will be with her, which is lucky as I leave for the UK this Saturday. They brought the interview forward by one week at short notice giving my TG a ring - we have pretty much all the documents they will need and some extras - I am pretty confident she should get through, and I think she, being confident, at the interview will be important. I made sure that she was looking smart, buying her a matching ensemble - god she scrubbed up well!!!!! Plus I came along looking smart in shirt, tie and jacket - I think it all helps - well, we will see, I hope I am not wrong..... - Caledonian - many thanks for your tips - sorry have not replied earlier, but all been been very hectic. - A Hotel tip - she and I have just had a few days at the Tide Resort on the sea front at Baeng Seng - on the way to Pattya - more Thai resort than Pattaya, but the beach front is good and the hotel rooms really very nice indeed - a great place to take your girl for a romantic getaway - a Superior room is 2100 bt a night, including breakfast -it has chilled us out nicely for todays ordeal anyway....
