Harry raised a good point. Frustrated at thais doing a seemingly easy task the hard way. An example was telling my girlfriend to find a lawyer in singapore, while I swim, shower and then go buy a paper. Not only couldnt she figure it out. The staff at the montien in pattaya a 4 star hotel, with educated people couldnt either. A westerner would dial international directory, seek a yellow pages on line, or call singapore. But nah, no one knew how. Then the not understand thing, "'look I dont want to go for a f_cking massage""..."'drive on or I break your face"'...............The hypocrisy thing//// ""I was only working one month, and never liked going with man"'...."'.But you butterflied!"".....i say is just sport like game, called :""that is tight"" and only play to keep evil dick happy, so not leave you "'that all"'.............But really I wouldnt want them to change, and they are so refreshingly easy compared to the units of beef called woman in the west.

My favorite thing that makes me go hmmmm in Thailand is that Western or Europeans insist on shaking hands when that is most likely the same hand they just cleaned their arse with after taking a nasty sh!t.

Exactly! That is why you don't see allot of Thai's shaking each others hands, and just doing the "Wai" thing. But as "newbies" to Thailand most farangs don't understand that they might have just taken a healthy Sh!t and cleaned with that hand.
I used to like to give certain people "the old ass palm" in years past. This is where I would shove my hand down the back of my pants and rub it all over my arse when I knew I was going to have to shake certain peoples hands. This has to be done ahead of time of course, you don't want people seeing you with your hand down your trousers.
Non the less, it is good for a gret laugh. Next time one of you guys thinks about shaking my hand you better think about whether I am giving you the "old ass palm" or not.

- real-life examples exist of Thai people commiting heinious crimes, yet not being arrested/prosecuted/punished because they're too high on the social register to be taken to task. If you're an important person in Thailand, you are above the law
- EDUCATION
- Thinking "out of the box" ain't gonna happen. Everything must be spoon-fed as an example, very little orginal thinking (disclaimer : there are some/few exceptions)
Even as high as graduate level Uni they are studying by rote, memorize the answer, but don't know how the answer was worked out logically

when they're coming at you on a motorbike (or full-sized car/truck) at 18:30 with no lights on at full speed going in the wrong direction, yes. Putting themselves in danger's path is just fine, but when it causes a dangerous situation for those about you, it is just plain wrong. Unfortunately it's all down to the coppers who won't do anything about it because they don't see the effort putting any extra money in their pocket

Oh yes, the old "ass scratched hand shake". It is the weapon of choice in western countries. The Asians have us figured out. That is why Japanese bow.
If we can meet in the future, please accept that I will shake your hand,with or without you having scratched your ass, and if there is any residual, you can have a gret chortle at my expense. Of course if you were then scratch your own nose, cough and cover your mouth, adjust your glasses, eat chicken wings, pick your teeth etc. I guess, by extension, you would having a taste of your own.
However, if a Thai proffers a 'wai' then they must be happy slapping the own right hand with their own left hand after taking a dump (and not washing). This would then create the condition where both their hands are now not clean. That seems much less likely since nose picking is such a fashion.
