Okay, the War on Terror bit. I don't care what FOXNEWS/NBC/MSNBC/CNBC/ABC/CBS/CC/CNN or any other bullshit network tries to feed me. The honest truth is that terrorism is a non-issue. From what I understand, more Americans died in car wreaks the month of 9-11 than died in the attacks.
However, in America a car wreak is considered an acceptable risk and a terrorist attack is not. Why? Because Americans don't give a f*** about facts and statistics. So we spend all our time and money on fighting (and losing) the War on Terror just like we fought (and lost) the War on Drugs. It's bullshit, pure and simple. Nothing but big money contracts for a few well-placed good ol' boys.
I will not change my plans just because some religious nut decides to attack those around him in some vain effort to gain access to a non-existant afterlife. If you waste your life trying to avoid the rare possibility of murder, then maybe you're watching just a little too much TV. It's the mundane shit that's most likely to do you in.

The thing I've found truly horrific and scary for some time is that most years more US school-age children are killed by guns accidentally than the total number of people killed in the WTC...and that's been going on for several decades. I haven't worked out a cumulative total, but I guess it's quite a big number.

I have to call Bull Shit. Once again someone spreads the long discredited “study” on child gun deaths. To come up with these phony numbers they had to expand the definition of a child to anybody under 24 years old. Doesn’t everyone think of a college Grad student when someone mentions school aged child. When the 23 year old methamphetamine dealer offs the 22 year old crack dealer I think it is a cause for celebration. One less thug in the world.
Now lets get back to the really important things in life. The study of non-school aged Thai pussy.

Of course, it seems that the terrorist attacks are nowadays a risk that shouldn't be neglected and it is probably necessary to be a little bit more careful than we were in the past.
But I do not believe that we have to become paranoiac because of that.
If I discover an abandoned luggage at the airport, for example, I am certainly going to indicate it to the security staff. Now, I am not fundamentally going to change my habits.
If I die tomorrow, at least I would have REALLY lived. I prefer acting like that than to have the impression to survive in the fear. But it does not prevent me from feeling some empathy for the other human beings...

I doubt very much these statistics can be correct. Over a long 3 day "Holiday weekend" the nationwide highway death toll is, usually, around 500, plus. Over 3,000 people died on 9/11.
