I can assure you many of the ppl gambling there have tons of cash to lose... mostly Thai Chinese business ppl there; I'd say at least 80% are Thai Chinese from BKK. I know of several of the ppl gambling there... let's see - Chalerm's family are regulars, Princess Jao Gor Gaew's nephew, the family who donated the land for ABAC's new campus near the airport, etc.... not poor and there to just have a few laughs more than anything else...betting 5,000b for them is chump change. There are VIP rooms which your 100b limit wouldn't be getting you into, some go there and some are in the main room.
Roulette.... long term that is not a beatable game - learn to play blackjack and count or switch to proper poker - hold 'em, Omaha etc - also beatable. I used to deal roulette, and have read most of the studies of ppl trying all kinds of systems....long term you'll lose. You are riding a short term lucky streak.
Plenty of Thais have gambling discipline BTW... Even if you are hanging out at a casino...  You should have bought the old guy a beer, after all it is free right?!

So were Cahlerm's family the crowd who hung around the casino for the free Thai food, or were they the ones pawning their mobile phones?
There are the odd few fools who arrive at the table with their Bht 10,000 promotion chips (which gives them a free night in the casino hotel) and throw it all away in less than five minutes, but they then leave the casino broke. Sanuk maak!
You will have a hard time convincing me that any respectable Thai would want to hang around with these sorry losers. Jeez I'm British and it even grates with me.
I do agree with you about winning/losing streaks however. If I lose Bht 500 early on I walk away but once I'm on their money I'll play with it and I'm up over the past year. It is possible to win small amounts at Roulette on a regular basis, but you have to be disciplined, or as the Thais around the table kept remarking on my last trip, "Jai yen". On the last two occasions I've had guys in suits standing behind me watching what I'm doing. You get used to it.
