Anybody know for 2006, what dates will the Loi Kratong festival take place in Chiang Mai?
Heard that CM was one of the best places for this holiday.

yes, chaing mai is a great place to be for this Thai holiday..go on google to find out when the full moon is in November 2006 and you will have your answer

Wish I could make last minute plans, but unfortunately my job here requires we make and submit our vacation schedules for 2006 by the end of Jan of 2006. So that is why I need to plan very far ahead if I aim to make it to this event.

When you're planning which city to celebrate it in, be aware that it is held on different days in different cities during about a one week period at the full moon. I.e. you can celebrate in Bangkok one night and Pattaya another, to keep the party rolling.
Book hotels more than a month prior if you want to be assured of your choice.

Glad I saw this post. I too was interested in CM at that time.
Thanks for this tip, I only thought they celebrate this holiday all at the same time thru out the country. Kinda strange concept as if every city in US celebrated New Years on a different day? Wouldnt that be great, Ha ha
Anybody with when the festival will take place in CM, please post the dates, only plan to spend 2-3 days (and nites) for CM so I want to get the dates right.

Could someone please confirm this assumption that Loi Krathong is held on diff. days in diff. parts of the country ?
I think that Adventure Guy is confusing this day with Songkran in which Pattaya will normally continue on for days after everyone else has stopped and Chiang Mai also hold theirs on diff. days
