reason for the post is my long term tg with kid is always asking me why you don't marry me now.
what is to gain from being married for her, and also for me, do I get any rights in los long term visa maybe.
but for her if something happens to me my next of kin is my son he gets it all,
in a nutshell can she come to the uk with this marriage certificate and "suprise darling" as that would not be good,

I think the easy answer IF you want to get married is to get a prenup. I did no problem either. Make sure you get a lawyer though if you are thinking about it.
I may get rid of teh prenup at some point but there it is for now. Anyway it is up to you. Are you concerned about what people back in farangland might say when she shows up?
This crossed my mind a little a while back but now the thought is actually fun for me. We are all different so you should just follow your head and your heart on this one.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention...
Last night I was at a big corporate dinner and my blonde female boss was sitting across from me. I really respect her so I mention this here just to set the stage.
Anyway we are all talking and I am at the "girls" end of the table by chance. Sitting next to me is the one woman that is in our organization that no one can figure out how she keeps her job year after year. Anyway I am talking away about having little brown Luk Krungs when she can't restrain herself any longer and asks me two questions almost at once:
1) Does my new bride speak any English?
2) What did she do for a job in LOS?
The two women across from me immediately started looking elsewhere (including my boss) and I got a big grin.
I knew what the woman was asking. Around here we all think that this woman who asked me about my wife must be f*cking someone because she sure isn't doing much work at her desk, maybe on it or under it... 
Anyway I inserted one of my wife's other jobs out of respect for my boss but left it at that. I did enjoy it though. If it were only myself to think about and not my wife I would have told the woman but it could make it awkward for my wife later at corporate events... 
So at the end of the day for me I really don't care what people think about her old profession. Of course I live in California so it is fairly tolerant.

I guess eveybody has some skeletons in the closet.
With a BG there will be a lot of skeletons and maybe that closet door has to be kept locked and bolted. Welded in and cemented over.
It is not reasonable to go with the "don't care what anyone else thinks". It seems like a snail type defence, curl up in that shell and stuff the rest of the world.
Maybe if you have your own island or cave it could work but most people have to work with colleagues, its nice to talk with neighbours and keep in touch with friendship groups, clubs, sports etc.
I know of several mates who have good marriages in farangland with their Thai Bgs. Most of them live close to other Thais who share a common background, eat together now and again, got Thai TV, kids and more.
They took in the Thai culture, took in, not let it take over.
Not just took the girl into their country and expected her to be instant American. You know, like instant soup. Just add water and stir and you have it

Oh I'm not putting it on a shelf it just doesn't hit my to do list. That is caring about waht some farang gold digger thinks. In fact I enjoy her interest.
My wife and I are both social people and have no intention of curbing that. It is just that I really don't care about what anyone thinks about it. Like I said I live in California. The Terminator is our Governator and Gay marriage is about to be legalized. No here gives an ex-BG too much notice on the conversational front. Soon enough she'll be driving our Luk Krung to their soccer games with the rest of Paton Place. 
At the end if the day many people are just curious. We are all free to live however we wish. I am very happy with my wife and I would never have met here but for her old profession.
I don't feel a bit bad about any of it and I don't live in a closet. In my mind it is a lot like swearing frequently in commmon conversation. We all know how to do it and everyone knows what the words mean. We just don't have to make it so plain all the time.
For me what is important is that we are happy. Beyond that an occassional splash of color just adds interest to the day.
