Hello: The last time I was in BKK (Nov 2002), I was able to call to the U.S. over the internet. I went to internet cafe, and called a regular phone in the U.S. I asked them for the software, but was told that it would not work in the U.S. I am now in the U.S. and am having a difficult time finding something like that. Anyway, the point is, that the call in the internet cafe to the U.S. was very inexpensive. Try it out.

I use an internet cafe on the second floor of the Times Square building . Its 16 baht a minute anywhere in the world . Its a direct line and not an internet based call . I have lots of problems with the webphones that some places use for their international calling . About the phones on the street . They could be cloned numbers . It is however very easy to program pre-paid phones so that they have infinite minutes on them . As advanced as some of the copying is Ive seen in Thailand Im sure theres plenty of people who can load you up with a million minutes of call time for a few thousand baht .............

Just a note, last time (Dec) when in BKK I bought a Thai International PrePaid Calling Card at MBK ground floor. card name is THAICARD. 500Bht Go towards the Nokia shop on the GF. They will direct you to a small gift shop about 20m away around a corner. I think the shop name is "SUPRISE", small 3 meter wide front. Can use this card through your mobile or a land line or normal pay phone, to make international outgoing calls. Dont know what number comes up at the other end, (if thats a concern to you), but it is cheaper.
