have seen a couple of other programmes the past couple of years.
1 was about a fella in his 50's who travelled to BKK looking for a wife.
tried one of the agencies which specialise in this sort of thing and had a few dates,but i think in the end he was unsuccessful in his aim.

This one is now a friend of mine ,who persuaded by the bbc to follow him and do a doc of his ventures.
The first place he went a lady aproached him and said she liked him.seems now that was set up, by the introduction people.
they spent eight days at the Ammbasador and then got married,in a buddist traditional wedding.
this was not followed by a civil one so it was not valid
later on.
now this chap is severly scared on both legs from his army days
I have seen these and cannot envisage any women on such a short time living with these,
he came home to get a visa,but her old b/f told immingration that she was a wicked girl.end of her story.
they are now parted and have horrendus phone bills to pay off, he had never thought it though and paid the price .

The programme featured the British Emassy in BKK, it showed people who'd lost passports etc
Plus an ex-pat guy in Pattaya who helped out for no money?
The TV show was nothing to get excited about.

The program was very good. It looked at the role of the British embassy in Bangkok.
It showed how stupid the British can be when on holiday
It spent a few minutes on the red light areas but mainly dealt with the British Embassy and how they deal with the problems of Brits in Thailand, from obtaining a new passport, one was processed in an hour, to looking in to Brits involved in a plane crash.
It also showed how difficult in can be to get you Thai wife in to the UK. In one case the couple had met through I believe a marriage broker, he was 70+ she younger but spoke no English. They got a settlement visa. Another guy with a well spoken Thai girl firend could not get a visa.
A Brit was in prison for trying to smuggle a kg of heroin out. He was told it was diamonds. How many times are you warned not to carry packages from strangers?
I thought it was a well balanced program.

This is the reputation Thailand has got in the UK.
Not the 999 other great things about the country!
Just the sex scene for dirty old men who have probably been turned over by a WESTERN woman already and taken to the cleaners.
However I thought it touching that the 72 year old bloke was brought happiness by the Thai lady. So what if she gets his house when he dies. She's made a great effort and brought a smile to a lonely old man.
What can be wrong in that ?
But don't forget the Western hypocracy(I assume its the same in the US)
Sex is dirty/naughty!

Happily, this seldom applies to Brits living in (or visiting) LOS. British guys, anyway.
