The only time I`ve ever seen a fireman/engine was songkran a couple of years ago in Patong. We were partying outside Bananas on the beach road listening to the band that was playing on the top balcony.
They were loaded up with some water but because they were so high up no one could reach them so they were all perfectly dry.
Cue Fire Engine...
They come along, everbody starts pointing up at the band, so the chief on top of the engine turns the big cannon towards them and opens up...
All the band start hopping around and now the crowd is going nutz because they think, yeah now there all wet.
Problem was the band  had all elactic guitars, amp`s etc etc.......
One of the funniest things I`ve seen

I saw a fire engine this last Songkran as well chasing people 50m up an alley way with its hose on Silom.
Other than that I have seen a few relics getting around, but the funniest fire engine I saw was in Vanuatu and when I heard the siren going I looked around and saw an old red truck with a local islander standing on the back yelling out at the top of his lungs, 'wwwhhhoooooaaaaaaawwwhhhhooooaaa'

EWO,
Jsut one of my many idle the days away hobbies.

Just imagine that you're shopping inside the enormous Pratunam warehouse when all of a sudden you hear a big BANG. ÝThe bang resulted from a blown fuse, causing a black out in the entire warehouse. ÝEverything is pitch dark (looting time!), and a fire broke out at the electrical panel. ÝEven worse, the electrical panel is located at one of the main enterances. ÝNow that it's pitch dark, one of the main enterances is blocked, and there are no visable exit signs illuminated to guide you out, you panic. ÝKnowing how flammable clothing fabrics are, the fire spreads at an incredible rate. ÝKnowing how confusing the place is and how narrow the isles are, you cannot seem to find a path to go anywhere. ÝAs you crawl on your knees gasping for air, you find it hotter and hotter wherever you move. ÝAt this point, what do you think best describes your situation?

a. ÝYou're f_cked. Ý
b. ÝYou're f_cked. Ý
c. ÝYou're f_cked.
d. ÝYou're f_cked. Ý

Well, I would search out for that farang in the sequens as the sequens would reflect the fire light and then I would hide under her dress, again because the sequens would deflect the heat and then she would lead me to safety and we would live happily ever after... and then I would be f_cked, f_cked, f_cked.

By the way Kenny, do you sleep well at night in your hotel room, you do of course realise that the hotels fire sprinklers here are for decoration only, they actually turn them off at the valve in case they accidently come on and ruin the furniture. Also the fire hoses, if you pull one out, you will see that they are actually not connected to anything, all the extinguishers are light weight and that is not through any great technological breakthrough by Thai techs, its just that they are empty, they are easier to carry up the stairs empty.

Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite.

ducksnutz- I don't really care about fire sprinklers.  Chances are that the sprinklers won't put out a fire anyways.  Just as long as there is a balcony (where I can hide while the fire is burning), or 2 stairwells on each side of every floor, I will be happy.
