When I was in BKK - Sukhumvit in Feb, I was directed to the 2nd floor of the shopping building (near Honey Hotel) which had hispeed Internet... Think is was DSL. It was a hispeed internet cafe kind of place. Anyway, it they have it, it must be available.

An update- I finally got my SnapStream server software woring on my PC - and after one hickup that got solved via their forum - i'm up and running. The whole application runs through the web browser whether locally accessed or remotely - so you get to control which TV programs to record and stream - regardless you are at home or surfing abroad. Tonight i've been trialling recording and streaming the "Deer Hunter" which just happens to be on the box- top figure out what sor of bandwidth one can get away with for watching TV. Around 200 kbaud is actually just about ok for a movie - and for chat shows or talk related comedy - a lower rate should be ok - i'm really going to miss some of our UK comedy shows.

Just thought, i'd throw in some prog. providing asian TV via web acces, as recommended via acf.hopto.org; probably useful for those of you having im-/exported a TG to the overseas - mainly chinese channels, but it's also got Thai TV, def. worth a look imho.

What is wrong with you guys??? This is the weirdest thread I have ever seen here! Weird enough to miss the dull British TV channels and not being able to get used to the more than 50 international channels you can subscribe from UBC for Baht 1'400 a month.
As if Bangkok and Thailand wouldn't offer other much much more exciting means of entertainment!! You must be a completely a-sexual, non-cultural and possibly blind individual to come to live in Bangkok and bother about reciving BBC. Or you are one of those who just believe that anything else than British is inferior and not worth enjoying.
This thread really shows how much some people's brains have degraded in the boring, dull British environment. Maybe the best advice is just to stay home; you are not able to see the more subtle and beautiful things in life than bbc...

Ý Ý Ý ÝI am with you buddy, why even bother going to Thailand if you cant live without your domestic television, surely you could immerse yourself Ýin a new culture, learn the language, meet new people etc .
Ý ÝI would assume you are going for work related reasons and have to be in Thailand, but I think at the end of a year you wont be so attached to your Brit TV .

I would understand you if you're only here for a few weeks of sanook - but I'm here for a year - and as I have a TGf that I dont intend to "butterfly" with ( if for no other reason but that she's promising to do a "bobbitt" on me if she ever finds out  ) and since one cant drink, f_ck 100% of the time - or at least I cant - ( money limits for starters ) I need to have access to some good TV on th odd occasion.
And YES - I have seen what u get on UBC - I can get all of those channels in the UK bar the thai ones - and YES - I would rather watch UK BBC and Channel 4.
I dont know what country you come from but theres plenty of great chat shows and comedy thats worth watching in the uK - graham norton, Spaced, parkinson, Newsnight, jonathan ross, you name it - all award winning shows -
and as for Jay leno and letterman - give me a break - what a bunch of arrogant nufunny tossers - their scriptwriters couldnt write a funny line for them if their lives depended on it.
and of course if I need my fix of Sopranos - about the only US show worth watching - ( hooray for HBO ) - I can always get UBC -
But as you rightly say there are plenty of other interests out there - I'm just covering all bases -
and as to learning the thai language - sure i am doing that - but it takes years before one can know enough to enjoy Thai TV ( if thats possible for a farang )

Well, I'm not here as a tourist..I live here since many years now and have no intention to fly back to my home country in the heart of Europe. I also worked in the UK for two years (the saddest years in my life..) and I know what's on BBC.
Knowing this and keeping in mind that you want to live here makes it so unbelievable that you can be so much bothered about your stupid TV!!
For a person with an open mind, a decent education, an average interest in cultures, people and nature there is sooo much to do in Thailand that you would never ever waste a minute thinking of your home TV programs. Can your world really be that narrow??? No interest in widening your horizon above your stupid comedy and chat programs??? Just open up, forget your British arrogance and be receptive to all facets of culture and diversity LOS has to offer. Suddenly your life will become much more colorful, enjoyable, rich, interesting and finally worth living...and you will just forget about your home BBC.

Enrol yourself in a Thai language class, get top talk and write Thai, mix with the Thai people and their culture. Forget about cold wintry UK and live life to the fullest. Soon you will wish that you NEVER have to leave Thailand for any other c***RY in the world.
