One time in Pattaya I was at Jomtien beach and purchased 4 genuine Rolex watches from a salesman there. I obviously did not have enough cash with me to pay for them so the salesman hailed 2 of his buddies on motor bikes to go to my hotel. I wanted to take a "taxi" but he insisted the motor bike was safe.
The driver put on his helmet (it is the law for the driver to wear one) and I hopped on the back of the bike without one. I was nervous to begin with but as we were driving I was looking down at the back of his helmet and saw the "battle scars," the helmet was beat to hell, had a lot of "road rash" and even had gravel ground into it. This made me feel even better about being on the back of a Thai motorcycle taxi, knowing it had scraped along the pavement a few times in the past. We did, however make it to my hotel without any problems.
That was my first and last motorcycle taxi ride.
Hope she is OK.

It's just good to hear that everything seems to be OK, apart from the sore head & leg. She must be a tough little critter alright, I just hope the last lingering aches will go away soon.
Just make sure she stays off the moto-taxi.

Thanks TT, and everybody...I'm really bowled over by everybody's concern and good wishes...
There's already gentle pressure on her to move from her new home in Rangsit, to a location closer to work, and closer to buses. She has a rather long moto ride every day down her soi, after a terribly long bus ride from Silom to Rangsit...
I just need to get there, and get everything sorted, although, strong as she is, she will probably sort ME...
My life's work for now...
She doesn't know about this forum, but I told her all my friends wish her well. She was deeply touched...

You are most welcome and I hope you get a chance to catch up with her again soon.
I know how I'd feel if someone I cared about was in a bad accident (happened to me some time go.. long story). It's especially hard, as you are far away (by the sound of it) and can't really be there for her in person.
Make the most of the time you can spend together, life doesn't come with a "replay" option.

Mr. Haam, my best wishes for a speedy recovery for Lady Little Ant. (and yourself!).
TWD bit it in Phuket on a Honda Shadow three years ago, got lovely scars, on elbow, knee, and both palms for a Christmas present. Damn helmet though stayed securely fastened to the back of the bike.
I've retired from Motorcycle riding, happy just to walk and talk at all nowadays. See you in South Bay?
