Mr Alan
I don't have anything against Sam Adams, but I like Heiniken better. Also, condidering that Heiniken is brewed in Thailand and is dirt cheap (compared to the price in US or EU), it's a no-brainer for me.

I was in Bourbon Street today.  Although I saw many familiar Napa Valley wines behind the bar, the only American beer was Miller.  No wonder the world thinks we make such shitty beer, we keep the best for ourselves.

Since I couldn't have a Sam Adams, I opted for a Guiness, but in the can, and for 250 THB.

Is Sam Adams available all over the USA in supermarkets etc?...I remember when I was last there some years ago, you had to know where to buy it, just not easily available. Luckily the Safeways near the house was well stocked with Becks.

The reason the world thinks you have shitty beer is because as you say everything you export, or even mass produce within the nation is shitty. All the best beers I have drunk there are produced locally and difficult to buy if you don't know where the specialist beer shops are.

I think just for example of the Hopland Brewery.

Sam Adams was the best beer available most places I went, but sometimes it took some finding.

A liot of the more widely found beers produced in Britain are crap too......

Of course proper Guinness is unbeatable within the UK/Ireland, but rare to find what I would call a really good pint even in Britain. Funnily enough though...easy to find in Ireland along with Murphys (for many an even finer drink) and Beamish.

Personally...Belgian Beer comes out on top every time.

Sam Adams is available at every liquor store, supermarket, and 7-11 I have seen in the U.S.  The key to a good beer getting widespread distribution here is to have it distributed by one of the big ones - Budweiser and Miller.  Years ago, an excellent beer called Red Hook was only available in the pacific northwest.  Then Budweiser started distributing it (not brewing it!) and you can now find it in many more places.

Having something in BKK other than Singa, Heineken or Carlsburg available regularly would be nice.

I have found the best price for Sam Adams is  $ 13.48  for an  18 pack at Sam's Club/Wal-Mart .  I was in Bangkok/Pattaya in April and still cannot remember if there were microwave ovens anywhere there. I'd like to bring some microwave popcorn --- it may be a stupid question but I consider myself still a newbie which allows me to ask stupid questions. Thanks

Samuel Adams has been around for quite a while, but is only now being referred to as 'good beer', presumably because of the MASSIVE advertising campaign they have mounted over the past year or so...

Yes there are microwaves here in Thailand.  There are also indoor toilets.
