ive just been reading a brief history of cambodia and im fascinated by what was happening in indochina during world war two and after the war. independance, pol pots regime, etc. if anyone could tell me of a website with more information id be very grateful. ill be in thailand in january and want to visit historic sites like the bridge and memorial in kanchanburi and hopefully ill also visit the killing fields in the early part of next year too. if anyone is planning to visit battlefields or memorials and would like a battle buddy to travel with id be more than happy. thanks, pablo.

It's hard to get an objective account of what happened in SE Asia over the last 100 years (assuming that there is such a thing as "an objective account".) There are lots of different points of view and also lots of dirty laundry that needs to be hidden. Human nature is that people only remember the good, and forget (or don't like to be reminded) about the bad.

In reality I meant to question as to which is the right side in any war...

Think of America nuking two of your cities as payback for the bio/chem warfare of Unit 731, which killed (arguably) over a million Chinese. And let's not forget the Rape of Nanking. Also, don't forget the 10,000+ balloon bombs you sent on the Jet Stream to America, plus the I-25 firing up Fort Stevens, plus bombing the forests of southern Oregon from the Air, plus Pearl Harbor, Manila, Corregidor, ... yeah, shit happens, especially when someone starts it.

I don't think the use of nuclear bombs in WWII was for any payback. It was to end the war as quickly as possible with the fewest number of casualties on both sides. An invasion of Japan would have killed millions of Japanese and hundreds of thousands of US troops.
