There are many places to get one's leg over so to speak but I was thinking more of the general fun ambiance and Sanook. Places with girlie shows where people are smiling and laughing. Not seedy backstreet red-light areas.
I used to go to Deja Vu on Collins Av South Beach Miami.
Then I discovered Thailand.
Mind you some of those ladies in Deja Vu were like naked 'Cheer Leaders' !
Available I think but mucho dineiro !
Some people have told me that Cuba and Rio are great but I have never been to either. If I was in Rio I'd never get out of music practice !

Well I went to Pitcairn Island once. Mind you, I was 6 at the time and not quite up to speed on the P4P front. Gave the bars (bar) a miss on parental advice.
The Pitcairners did have quite a nice line in carved wooden turtles as I recall.

I ALMOST put in a disclaimer excluding you, but, as you seem to have figured, it's really a 'if the shoe fits, wear it' kind of thing.
The newcomer's comments aside, I think I'm falling into line with the 'good riddance to bad trash' group: make it difficult, even uncomfortable, for the 'where can I get laid on the cheap?' gang, and those who invest some personal energy in understanding Thailand and Thais can enjoy to a level commensurate with their effort.
I SHOULD point out that, considering the cost of travel, unless they are VERY close to Thailand, most guys actually CAN get laid cheaper at home. ÝIt's just that they can't FOOL themselves into thinking the girls actually CARE about them elsewhere. ÝSuch is the illusion that TGs bring to the equation.
I think I'll put FM back on my radar screen for now, since he is such a SENSITIVE git. ÝI am beginning to enjoy the power I appear to have acquired...
BTW, Arcadius, on Pitcairn, from a 6 year old's perspective, how 'bout them Christians...?

I read oiram's post, at the time when I was ignoring yours.
At first I thought oiram MIGHT be a girl, but decided it didn't make any difference. For convenience,ÝI will refer to oiram as 'he'.
He seems to be pretty well confused about how men and women fit together in the world at large, and for good reason. ÝWe ALL are.
All I can say is that I don't believe in feminism, the National Organization for Women, etc, any more than I believe in the Ku Klux Klan, Black Engineers of America, or ANY divisive, polarizing group. ÝThey lead to the oirams of the world, which is to say, confused people.
The differences between American and Thai women are 100% cultural, not about race. ÝPut a young Thai girl in an American school with American kids, and it WILL rub off. ÝYou will not be able to distinguish them, except by appearance, and then maybe not.
Giving him the benefit of the doubt, oiram seems to be launching trial baloons on the subjects about which he is confused. ÝI find FEW here who are any less confused; rather most here are merely on the opposite side of the fence. ÝI give ANYONE credit who realizes that there are personal issues to be resolved. ÝThe ones that think they have it all figured out are the scary ones, to me.
Obviously, *I* like the Thai set of problems better than the American one, having had sufficient of the latter in my time. ÝBut oiram is still working out just what is bothering him. ÝGood.
I don't much care what equipment he is carrying...
I am learning that I must acknowledge your 'positive' references to me, lest I receive a sound ear-boxing in subsequent threads. ÝMay I place some on account, against the chance that I may be too lazy to respond in the future?

It does to me. The writer oiram is representing him/herself as one of the pussy pumping good ole boys, strickly for the benefit of condeming those same pussy pumping good ole boys.
Now if the writer indeed has a set of balls then none of the words that I am writing means dick. (any more than usual of course!). The philosophy expoused by the writer, as you have detailed, being less than mature in thinking and somewhat soul searching, I would not really bother with it further.
But if the writer is indeed ball-less but at the same time waves a dick around, dildo as it may be, I find that very interesting.
One can easily imagine a woman of say 40-45, sitting at her desk in front of her keyboard scrolling through the sex crap posted by the said good ole boys and one can sense the slow rise of her anger, her indignation.
Why even the 'white old men' and 'young brown girl' image in her mind is enough to get her juices going. (not sexually of course-thats another thread).
So what does she do? She mentally grows a dick and balls, thinking that the good ole boys will be too dumb to perceive her own hidden sex.
Imagine her chuckling to herself as she taps out the philosophical 'trap' she has laid. Imagine her joy as she watches the posts come in, for the most part believing she is a he.

To me it represents the distance, the vast distance, hell its a gulf, between Western men and Western women. The communication breakdown is probably complete and irretrevable. And the gulf is getting bigger.
Holywood romantic comedies aside, relationships, marriages, love is so bent out of shape in the English speaking west, that it defies description.
My point.
Part of the need of Thailand for some men is the escape from the pain of communicating with women back home.
If oiram is a woman (no denial from him/her yet) it indicates to me how much that gulf has grown.
That now we cannot even discuss the great battle of the sexes debate wearing our true faces. Add another veil. Draw another curtain. Put up another wall. Close another door.
Now, barriers are good. Hidden identities are preferred. Even required. Standard issue.
And the internet is the ultimate cloak.
Being a sensitive git, as I have been identified as, I find that....sad.
