I have spent many many years coming to thailand and living here as well... and know a lot of thai words from BG and some nice ladies also. Now I am studying thai language and have really come to learn how bad their/my thai really was/is. Actually a few years ago I remember one of the non bar girls I was taking out commenting.. it really worries me where you learnt to speak Thai... even tho I was not using any bad words etc. Now I know what she meant, my choice of words and phrasing was bad. Another interesting note here, is my current GF works in Bkk airport departures and she tells me that they are constantly checking out the girls saying good bye to their farang boyfriends and their favorite past time is identifying each girl, is she bar girl or not, hahahahahha. Yes not only do they swear, but most of their conversation is really gutter talk, but I still love them for what they are.

It is interesting for me and probably quite fortunate that I do not speak Thai well enough to understand what the girls say. I have spoken to working girls in Australia and quite frankly the language they use is awful and there is no way that I would be seen dead in public with one or would I take one to a function where my friends are because it would be just too embarassing and way too obvious as to what they do and the sort of background they come from. Simalarly I can fully understand why middle class thais would look down on BG's. I also understand why middle class thais would be surprised that farangs mixed with BG's because they can recognise what we cannot.
