Some rock type started it in the late seventies.
I got knicked named by a co-worker who thought I bore some resembalence. The make up didn't help matters.
When I joined I thought it was pithy and a sensible moniker to augment the Lunatic Fringe and all it implied.
And it's stuck.

There used to be a Spanish satirical magazine called 'HermanoLobo' It means Brother Wolf.
I still have a copy from the mid-1970's. When I was at college the Spanish Au-pairs called me that name after the cartoon character of the same name in the magazine.
It was a wolf with lots of UUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu's coming out of it's mouth.
They called me this because everytime I didn't understand what they said I said, "Who?" pronounced more like "OOooH?"
