RE: The Tourist Visa and Marry route,
This definitely is a no-go zone. If you have a Fiancé Visa you can apply for a re-entry Pass for your TGF the same day you are married.
If she comes on a Tourist Visa you must be married for 3 years to qualify.
Why? Because in the Fiancé visa process you are vetted along with her. The amount of paperwork and interviews that both of you must undertake ensures that this is not a 'marriage of convenience'.
Also the Green Card process is expedited by having been vetted through the Fiancé visa process.
A case in point. My brother married his Korean GF when he was stationed in Germany. However the only reason she got a re-entry pass (and it took a year) was because she was a 'stateless person' and was eligible for a Political Asylum visa. However even with political asylum it took 7 years to get her green card and this was in the 1980s...

my wife really doesnt miss much about thailand except her immediate family..she hates going out in thaitown here in LA.
dont get me wrong she goes to buy her phone cards and fish sauce but the thai people she has met there do not seem "jaidee" to her.
however, she does look forward to saturday or sunday visits to the largest wat outside of thailand which isnt far from our house and brings me back a bit to wat nai harn in phuket when we lived there.

Well, got the paperwork from Brian's office, did the signatures required, added the photos, and sent it off to the Texas processing center a few weeks ago. A local partner in crime here in New Mexico just got his sign-off from the Texas center, took about 10 weeks. So I figure about end of July to get the sign-off from Texas, then end of September for the BKK embassy interview. After that, get her on a plane here in mid-October.
Still all systems go from a relationship perspective. I noticed both of us are getting more anxious for her to be here, now that the decision has been made. It's a case of "just get here!" But I also noticed a change in her too -- she seems more relaxed and inwardly happy. Our conversations via video Skype reflect this. I think the stress of her not knowing over the years if I was ever going to do this was always a cause of concern for her; perhaps Thai women are so fundamentally wired for marriage that living with me without that was always a source of discomfort.
I think she'll do fine when she gets here, as a Thai/Lao friend of mine here wants my TGF to work at her restaurant. My TGF has already spoken to that lady's mom -- guess they chatted up quite a storm in Isaan, so that will make the transition into farang culture a little less bumpy. And keep her busy so she's not climbing the walls while I'm working.

Texas processing took longer than expected, about 4.5 months, but finally a thumbs up, nonetheless. Perhaps related to the huge backlog with everyone in Amerika trying to get a passport, due to the new travel rules to/from Canada and Mexico. This has apparently bogged down other departments, which did an "all call" for help to alleviate the load.
So the first part is done, and we'll soon be setting up the interview in BKK. The current backlog at the embassy is about 2 months, so we're thinking maybe my TGF comes over in January. A friend of mine and his Thai wife will be there then, his wife will be staying on for a few extra weeks, but he'll be coming back and has offered to help shepherd her through the airports. That's the current plan.
My TGF is relieved and a bit excited. Her comment: "It is good news and bad news... good news because they say "yes," bad news because I have to wait at least two more month!"
So all systems still go, as I trudge silently (and willingly) to the gallows.

I think getting bored is natural. It's the old saying, "Show me a guy with a hot wife, and I'll show you a guy who's not having sex!"
I lived with a Korean hottie for 10 years, great bod, knockers that would make the Kaiser cry, and after a couple of years of screwing our brains out, we got to the "been there, done that" phase. Things with my TGF are less intense now than when we first met nearly 6 years ago, but we do other things that balance that. There is a certain level of comfortable familiarity that I enjoy with her now. Guess that's the normal progression of things in a relationship. Punting on the side makes it doable.

but you are right on...I suppose I have been with mrs atl for almost 6 years and my longest relationship before this was just 2...so it is natural I am sure..
But I guess I just need my 2 weeks in Thailand to spice up the battery....if ya know what I am saying
