Yes, glad that someone mentioned this. I believe this falls under the J1 visa and there's a few girls in Thaitown now on this program. You'll find them at Hollywood Thai restaurant and they are the first I've known to come this way and 2 or 3 of them worked there. Haven't been to the restaurant for a while but I would imagine they still work there...

I've known a couple girls that have gone over on the au pair system with an agency. These girls (that I knew) were quite well off and educated though, to begin with. Naturally there is a vetting process. One of them, who went to Oregon, besides working under the table at a restaurant (and her light au pair duties!) also took classes at a local university (toward her Masters) so I guess that was permissible. Her contract was for one year.

the one thing that jumps out at me here is these girls that are making their way to the U.S. (& elsewhere, as a student, au pair, etc.), which is not problem w/me, but it appears in most if not all cases once here a relationship w/a farang ranks as about last on their list of interests
25k to 30k (dollars?) for a faux marriage, I'm available & open for negotiation on that, maybe send over a good looking friend, willing to call that even up

An alternative is to try going the way of the S visa (S-5 or S-6). Best thing of this visa, is that she wonīt even have to fill the application (form I-854) herself, instead a USA government agency will do it for her -thus no mistakes on the application and total certainty of approval once the form is filled and submitted.
Have your girl go and spent a few weeks in the south of Thailand. Meet some locals... and with some imagination I am sure she can make up a story that would allow her to apply for an S visa. If she is good at making up stories (TGs all are, arenīt they?), she can even do without having to go south.

While I was in Thailand the other week, visited the U.S. Embassy and was surprised to find 30-40 Thai Students (school uniforms, 90% female and 10 percent male) standing in line outside the gate with their student visa paperwork in hand.
Was happy that I didn't have to stand in that line, though wasn't to happy with the U.S. citizen service hours as I showed up at 10:50 and they were only open from 0900-1100 and 1-2 PM. Only looking for information, so turned around and departed.

You want to be part of the immigration problem, not its solution.
Remember Duck, when you twist the rules the you stress the system and when you stress it it will react. The current mood among US voters is to 'close the doors' in respect to immigration. As long as the rules are being perverted to accommodate the special interests of a minority there will never be immigration reform.

IMHO we need to stamp out unlawful immigration now if we are to get the immigration reform we need...

It is just like people of your ilk that when an authority figure (say a parent) tells you you can not have something (like candy) you immediately become petulant and retreat into the 'he is lecturing me' mode.

For a supposed doctorate holder it is amazing how little you use your brain...
