AM: Bangkok Dangerous is a modern action flick about a deaf mute contract killer whose love for a girl begins to draw him out of his shell. Here's a good description of everything you ever wanted to know about the DVD from the excellent film site HK Flix:
http://www.hkflix.com/xq/asp/filmID.529043/qx/details.htm

A friend of mine recommends Province 77 (I haven't seen it yet). The film takes it name from the so-called 77th province of Thailand -- Los Angeles. It's about a Thai family struggling to survive in LA. The story touches on themes such as the tension between older and newer generations of immigrants, and traditional culture vs. assimilation. That may sound somewhat boring but the director/producers have thrown in some gang warfare and have cast a Thai super model as the eldest daughter. I'm surprised they didn't add any ghosts or ladyboy volleyball players.

One of my favs is Fun Bar Karaoke (1997). One of the first films I saw after moving here. A nice/amusing satire of Thai culture... particularly those parts involving karaoke bars, mafia type characters, fortune tellers, and young love.

anyone know which club the movie was filmed ?

Asian Man,
Last time I write down the name of the club in my note, but forget already where's the note. But this is the list that I remember from the Fake Movie:
1. Lava Pub
2. Ministry of Sound
3. White... Club,

it is more than 7 pub / club in that movie

As I remember one is not pub but cafe with a library in it. You only allowed to drink in there. Many young Thais go there, well I forgot the name.

Lava Pub ? the one on Khoa San RD. ?

the club i'm talking about is the one where the guy who looks like a young "bruce lee" ( funky hair cut ) follows Ms. Um down stairs & ends up picking up two chicks ?

the cafe with the library....what part of town is that ? am I asking too many freakin questions ?

i saw the tesseract at a film fest here in the states. good stuff. slick, non-linear crime thriller type with plenty of eye candy (the bullet time got to be a bit much)

and I must recommend last life in the universe. pretty arthouse flick, shot by the wong kar-wai's favorite lensman, christopher doyle (see: chungking express, in the mood for love, etc.)
