A Danish guy I worked with back in the day selling condo's...who is still a good friend and met a few of you guys at toxic (I remember the toxic girls were quite into him) was dooped by a french chick with a kid on the "I need a plane ticket home" scam.
she gave him a biz card with a Paris address and phone #....seemed legit to him as the baby was crying...the lady said she would mail it back to him and he gave her his biz card as well...
8,000 baht he had on him and gave her on the way back to our Asoke office after showing a condo off of Wireless Road back in '04...he came in and told us and we all laughed and were like "Dude you are not gonna see that money again."
fortunatly for him 8,000 baht was a drop in the bucket from his inheritance that was paid monthly...

yes that describes the evil in people that you see as the whole picture...but him and I still both get a big laugh at that...and people that live on scamming good hearted people have "it" coming to them... here or in the after life...karma is a boomerang...and you will get what you give out eventually...

It sort of reminds me of the 'Bugs Bunny' cartoon where a 'Bogart' type character keeps showing up and asking 'Can you help a fellow American who is down on his luck.'
It is pretty much the same thing here, Farangs using their nationality to take advantage of other Farangs.
As for beggars the classic story is that of the guy filmed in Times Square by Candid Camera. They were doing the 'bad pay phone' gag and then asking the mark who he was trying to call and why.
To make a long story short this panhandler who is a fixture in the area goes into the booth and when he comes out the show's host interviews him. It turns out that he was calling a Casino in Atlantic City to confirm that they will be picking him up in a limo within the hour. He admitted to being a 'high-roller' who gets 'invited' to an Atlantic City Casino every few months and can drop USD 20,000 in a weekend. His estimated income over 1.5K per year...
