Urban sprawl and over developement takes any city parts to the ruins; the bulls eye targets goes in other directions where builders take us to. Yep much of BKK looks like cement factory everywhere.
Just go to the smaller towns to have sanook in SE Asia. Bangkok scrapers and traffic can be too much after many trips.
I would say many cities in the world big to small are generic like 7-11's, malls, beer bars, etc etc on every corner. No city or town is distinguishable from one another except for the old monuments left behind.
No character in its society either.
Brothels and joints must of been real class or hot n rauncy action. Now they all look same. Even ladies have similar looks; Japan cutety school girl, special hair cuts, clothes, all same same Chi ?

Been visiting since 1989 but there's still much enjoyment to be had now, even more due to it being so widespread these days. They're just as accommodating but vigilance must be maintained: it's still possible to trip over a starfish or mercenary woman, no matter how much previous experience any of us has had.
The GFE as stated in an earlier post is still quite quick & easy to find.
The main thing I notice is far less BG's speak English these days.
