It's easy to say don't get in a cab with strangers but the people are so good at it, you are in their homes before you know it.

Back in my Navy days in The Phillipines I almost got scammed. Me and my buds jumped in the back of a jeepney (like a baht bus). Well, one Filipino guy was talking to me.

FG: I love America
MP: Thanks, I love the PI
FG: No, I really love you guys. I want to help you
ME: ok
FG: Give me your money and I will show you where to hide it.
ME: Just tell me where to hide it.
FG: I want to show you
ME: Just point (I am being very nice)
FG: points to my shoe
ME: thanks I will put it there later

He then got pissed.. blah blah I have insulted him, I do not trust him blah blah

We squids jumped off the jeepney at our destination. A friend from the other end of the jeepney took his shoe off pulled out just one 20 peso note and said "f***, the guy stole the rest of my money (a few thousand pesos) " My friend had given another guy on the jeepney his money. He said the guy counted his money and put it in his shoe. The guy had palmed the money and placed only 20 pesos in his shoe. Slight of hand is a wonderful thing.
