Prices dont just go up either the dutch ladys tried that and the ladys from eastern europe undercut them.
The prostitutes union wanted a basic minimum 50 euro price when they legalised prostitution 10 yrs ago.
Now the dutch ladys work more from home or other places, the basic price is 30,40,50, 60 Euro ( with extras ) and up mostly south american ladys and eastern europe so the choice is more than only thai which are also available.
Something which on soi 3 and walking street is also becoming more apparent in thailand where before it was the domain of thai ladys only who would have thought it.
One thing almost non exisitent in the west is long time there are no illusions your in for quick sex and out again. This would only stop when the demand stops which is not demanded by thai men but farang.
To give an example I had st with a nice columbian lady horny as hell 30 euro.
A hungarian asked 40 euro, some will kick you out in 2 minutes with others a nice time can be had.
Still 2 hrs in an oil massage is better value but not some st from rainbow 4 for 4k. Horses for courses really its that my wife is thai otherwsie why pay to travel around the world when I have hookers on my doorstep.
One funny thing happening in amsterdam though is the rise of the massage shop. The local council are trying to tone things down in the red light area which means 550 windows become 300 or so. The more they close the more massage shops open up. I saw one the other day called massage gogo.
I had to laugh as the ladys all look like hookers ( this is in a shopping street ). Brothels are liscensed to sell sex but they cannot prove massage shops offer ' happy endings ' although everyone knows they do. These are not liscensed sex places so a grey area.
Its against dutch law to send in vice cops to catch them out and on the forums nobody spills the means in too much detail, although everyone knows where these places are.
They are not cheap though at 35 euro just for the massage as I can get full sex for 40 cant see the point really I will wait until im in los but for those who stay here I can see the attraction.
Windows and massage parlours are just one type of place though there are brothels where I live are a few in different price ranges but most tourist never found these places (which is not clever as they are a better value ).

If you have alot of land by way of marriage (as I do) over 40 hecters (160acres) and you have a tractor - plenty of water- own a shop - loan money- and have holidays by the coast- the idea of staying isnt so hard or bad-
I simply wont forsake a well paid job in Australia to do so-
My time is near where I live here - I get superannution at 56 due to year born may 61-
Til then I build my assets here increase the cattle numbers make sure on paper it works-
But my prior post was for those that forsake common sense and end up hanging broke from some beam in pattaya

machinery can also be rented out-(to others son drives it)
When you combine also the cross border transactions (buying rice just over the border in cambodia and reselling in Thailand) the farm took in over 500,000 baht last year-
Cattle numbers increased by 20 as well-
Shop made 450,000-
I dont see these profits but do benifit- the house furniture and aircon- improvements - and better farm equipment and new storage-
Basically I could live here now as its a well oiled machine-
Some families are just good at this stuff and work very hard - my thai family has its fingers in every pie-
Even the 14 year old daughter burnt wood and made 12 bundles of chacoal last weekend on the farm- each worth 200 baht- she sold them and put it in her bank account-
Son who is 17 returns home with his uncle they have a truck with 70 bundles of cambodian rice - to sell at a higher profit here- (borders just a few clicks away)
They also loan money- some loans -
The father has huge grain suppluses-
I have always been content with the set up here-
My wife has 700,000 plus in her bank account and owns alot of land-
I will stay put in australia for a while longer- but make no mistake if you have well irregated land and a hard working Thai Family - and some machinery - its not so challenging to retire here in a rural enviroment

I would have thought that the obvious alternative to Thailand is the Philippines rather than Central,or South America.
Certainly demographics favour that view.The Philippines has a serious overpopulation problem ensuring an abundance of nubile girls whose poverty will result in many of them joining the sex industry.

In the unlikely event that the efforts of vested interests,and the Catholic Church,prove to be ineffective,I think we can safely rely on the entrenched corruption in the Philippines to ensure that a substantial percentage of the population remains sufficiently poor,so that the sex industry continues to be strong and affordable.
The Philippines ranked 134th out of 178 countries in Transparency International`s corruption perceptions index in 2010,tied with Zimbabwe and Bangladesh.
Surely that will keep the Philippines a safe alternative to the LOS for the mongers of the world.

The phillipines is way way more dangerous than Thailand- anyone who has had time there knows-
Infact when we left Boracay one night in a black out we had a guy with a machine gun escort us to a mainland car - and the hotel insisted on it as the place in darkness is plain "lock the f***ing doors"
Just go look at the bank security to gauge the score-
