It was interesting the Rams sacrificed a 4th round pick to the Bengals to trade up only two spots. Did they really expect the Packers, drafting 25th, to take Jackson? The Packers, with an aging Brett Farve, are going to draft for immediate needs, which they did. The Bengals choose Curtis Perry next, but get the 4th rounder besides. Were the Bengals going to draft Jackson, but decided he wasn't enough better than Perry to take the extra pick? It appears so, or maybe they wanted Perry anyway, and just bluffed the Rams out of their 4th round pick?

thaiaficionado: It was not the Packers they were afraid of, but the Bengals. The Bengals told the Rams they were going to take a rb. They just did not tell them which one. In fact, they took Chris Perry from Michigan in the 2nd round. But, anyways, the Rams had Jackson ranked high and had an extra 4th round pick from the league, so why not. Not that it matters, but Jackson was ranked on Mel Kippers board as the 10th best player in the draft, which the Rams got at #24. I believe that the Browns trade with the Lions was a questionable one. They moved up only one spot to nab Winslow, while also giving up a second round pick. Ronnie Reagan:

You say that now, but if Jackson had gone to Denver you'd be singin' the "next Terell Davis" song. *smile* If you guys want to see the terms of the trades: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfldraft/draft04/news/story?id=1786140 Let the NFL season officiall begin. So..... 1. Where will Warner end up? 2. Where will Collins end up? 3. Can Julius Jones be the Cowboys savior at rb? 4. Is Tatum Bell the next Davis or Portis?

Alright you 9ers fans. So, who's your qb of the future. It might be Rattay, but not this season. Ouch.... I pulled my groin. Looks like you pin your hopes on the 2nd year player Dorsey. Unless York opens his check book and goes after Collins or Warner, it could be a long season for you guys. Even if he does go after Collins or Warner, it will be a long season!! ha ha ha ha!!
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- San Francisco 49ers quarterback Tim Rattay will have surgery Tuesday to repair a torn muscle in his groin and is expected to miss up to four months. Rattay was injured Friday while attempting a pass during the opening session of the team's first spring mini-camp. "The muscle came off the bone and they're going to go in and attach it in the groin," 49ers coach Dennis Erickson said Saturday. "It's a temporary setback. It's not a season-ending injury by any means. He'll be here for training camp. Tim Rattay should be our starter when we play our first game." NFL training camps open in late July and the 49ers play their first regular-season game Sept. 12. Rattay is slated to be the team's starter in place of Jeff Garcia, who was released in March in a salary-cap move. Second-year player Ken Dorsey is Rattay's backup and will step in with the first-unit for now. But the injury means the 49ers do not have a healthy quarterback on their roster who has taken a snap in an NFL game. General manager Terry Donahue said the team would wait until after Rattay's surgery to determine whether it will attempt to acquire a veteran quarterback. "We obviously are thinking about possibilities as I speak," Donahue said Saturday. "One of the possibilities is we don't do anything. We just continue to coach the guys that are able to practice and let them practice and get their reps and experience." The other alternative, Donahue said, is to seek a trade for an experienced veteran or consider an experienced free agent. The team's options are limited because it is only about $1.3 million below the NFL's salary cap of $80.582 million. "We have other considerations we have to look at -- our cap and our cash," Donahue said. "There are a lot of different things we have to weigh when we are looking at this. We probably won't wait all that long if we do something. We have already begun to compile that information, so if we go that direction we will be ready to move." Dorsey had a quarterback rating of 82.5 and threw three touchdown passes during the preseason last year as a rookie. He did not play during the regular season as the team's No. 3 quarterback behind Garcia and Rattay. The University of Miami product has added 15 pounds to his lanky 6-foot-4 frame since last season. He also has increased his arm strength and improved his knowledge of the system. "My outlook on the whole deal hasn't changed," Dorsey said. "But I feel a lot more prepared. I can do things on the field to help this team win. Tim's going to be back and I just have to keep doing the things that I need to do to make myself better. That's important because now, with the first team, you've got a lot of guys depending on you and you've got to go out and perform." Left tackle Kwame Harris said the team has confidence in Dorsey. "We all want Tim back for the season," Harris said. "But Ken is awesome. Ken's going to pick it up and Ken's going to step up and do the job until Tim is ready to play again." http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1797942

"The muscle came off the bone and they're going to go in and attach it in the groin" That sounds very nasty, Tim Couch can be had for a 5th rounder.

Couch could be a bargain, his asking price might go way down if he's released. The Packers and Browns had a deal worked out for a 5th round choice. What's holding it up is the Packers refuse to pay more than backup QB money, with incentives if Farve gets injured, but nobody is counting on that. So Couch started talking to Chicago, and now the Packers are talking with Damon Huard. Collins told the Packers he might be interested if he can't find another starter's gig.

Yup. Musical Qb's. Packers and Huard?? Don't see him being the air-aparent to Mr.Hall of Fame Favre. I think the Lions are goin to be the sh_ts this season. Freakin' harrington under center, Roy Williams and C.Rodgers out wide and then K.Jones in the backfield. Not to mention they play on turf. could be the next version of the Rams, "greatest show on turf" show!!
