That's the guy, Daffy.
And yes, some people are trying to tar all sex tourists with the paedophile brush and, I think I have heard, are trying to make the intention to travel abroad to have sex with a prostitute illegal for Americans. I am guessing that this is their spin. What this discussion has unearthed, though, is I think that that is not (yet) the law. So, for now at least, no American police force will be placing this sort of advert as part of an elaborate sting, so we can discount that theory as to what the ad is about!

He was the son of Wally Shirra, one of the original 7 US astronauts.
But the point I was making is that he was arrested for intent to have sex with an underage person, and not for actually committing the act. What constitutes "intent" and the evidence required for that are not specified in the law, so it could lead to an abuse of power by the government.
I do agree that his activities on various chat rooms were incriminating, but what makes candy only for children? And who doesn't have condoms on them where ever they travel? (the ones you can buy in LOS are ridiculously small).

...and that is why I will be holding on to my foreign passport -- too much stupid stuff going on once you subject yourself to US jurisdiction.
