looking at my NEW map of BKK which shows the MRT routes, I wonder how this could be possible, but I'll have to believe it as you seem to be on the insider's track...pun intended

Quote: from bkkz on 11:29 pm on July 9, 2004 Did a little test drive with the MRTA this morning. Bought a stored value Smart Card, which costs 300 B, of which 50 B is deducted as a deposit. So, now I have two different stored value cards for MRTA and the BTS. I got out at Phra Ram 9 station, which is just outside the IT Mall next to Fortunte Hotel. Your closest MP is Champ Elysee, which is across the street. Notice the white bill board on the left. http://bkkx.com/pix/DSC01317.jpg Out of Huay Kwang station, I got out of the wrong end, but the pix shows you accessibility to Emmanuelle, First Class, Nataree, Subway, Mirage (a bit more walking required into the soi just after Subway) and on the opposite Caesars. http://bkkx.com/pix/DSC01321.jpg
To continue where BK left off... I got off the subway at Sutthisan station (the next one after Huay Kwang). Using the southwest station exit (there are 4 exits I believe) you can see the Poseidon building and sign to the south as you step onto the sidewalk. Poseidon is about a 2 minute walk south of the station. Caesar's is across the street and south with a pedestrian overpass between. Sorry no pics! The trick (?) to using the correct exit is to look at the location map on the train platform when you get off the train and before going through the turnstiles. The exits are layed out strategically to avoid passengers having having to cross the street, etc once they hit the surface and clearly numbered (1,2,3...). Dead simple once I looked at the location map.

The signage is all screwed up. It is not exactly easy for a first time user to work out which exit they want. A most interesting thing is the name of the system which is the Chalerm Ratchamongkon Line. What nickname would you give it? A few suggestions: 1. The Rat Line 2. The Chalerm Line (alternatively the Bang Bang Line after Duang Chalerm Yambamrung, cockney rhyming) 3. The Pussy Line (services more night areas than the BTS)
