Yeah, I just checked on that myself. According to the advance schedules on the UBC web site, there are NO bowl games at all being broadcast here this year. Although, it should be noted, it's not unusual for their schedules to be bunk and for things to turn up without any notice at all. Two or three college basketball games every week, sixty or seventy frigging European soccer games every week, and probably dwarf tossing from the Ukrane; but not even a single US college bowl game. Not even the Rose Bowl. Go figure....

Don't forget they also show 168 hours of cricket each week. Watching that game is marginally more exciting than watching grass grow.

Just shows how popular the US's national sport is outside of the US. I never could unnastan why it has been touted as a world event. Cheerio (from a cheeshead). PS: Who's favourite in the dwarf tossin'?

Right on, bro. But Wisconsin will upset Auburn Jan. 2nd, and I was in Pasadena on the new years millineum when they beat Stanford for back2back roses. But it's been a looooong season for the Pack, hasn't it? BTW, you can get lots of college football in LOS, with broadband, via ESPN.com. They broadcast the Superbowl live on Thai TV (channel 7, albeit without the commercials). And let's not forget the game is now being played in Canada, Europe, and Japan, so word is getting around I have my favorite for dwarf tossing but try to be PC, as difficult as it is sometimes.

hi, obviously the bowl games are on very early in the morning. I know this probably wont be any help to you, but when I lived in phuket an american guy owned a bar and he would open early and had a satellite and we would be drinking beer at like 7am watching the games. I am a dawg (UGA) and the owner went to auburn, so we had some good fun a couple of years. good luck, atl

Last time, I turned on ESPN and cricket was on. Next day, I turned on ESPN and the SAME guy was still batting and the SAME guy guy was pitching (uh, sorry bowling).

Last year's Rose bowl (Texas vs. Michigan) was broadcast live (about 5 AM BKK time), so I would be a little surprised if it was not broadcast this year. They also showed several replays during the week. However, last year the Rose bowl was played on Jan 1 late in the afternoon, and this year it is played on Jan 4 in the evening (USA time), so that may affect whether it is broadcast live in BKK.

That's right, the Rose Bowl is the National Championship this year, it is played Bangkok time 8am January 5. The trick is finding a bar open at that time if you want to watch it with friends (like me!). Perhaps one of the bars in the Soi 1 beer bar complex?

You need more than a bar with a TV. Somebody has to actually broadcast the game and, according to UBC's advanced schedules, neither ESPN nor any of the other sports channels UBC broadcasts will be carrying the Rose Bowl this year. at least not live. Of course, sometimes their schedules are rubbish, so we live in hope.
