Don't forget they also show 168 hours of cricket each week.

Watching that game is marginally more exciting than watching grass grow.
Last time, I turned on ESPN and cricket was on. Next day, I turned on ESPN and the SAME guy was still batting and the SAME guy guy was pitching (uh, sorry bowling).

Must have been a close game!

You need more than a bar with a TV. Somebody has to actually broadcast the game and, according to UBC's advanced schedules, neither ESPN nor any of the other sports channels UBC broadcasts will be carrying the Rose Bowl this year. at least not live. Of course, sometimes their schedules are rubbish, so we live in hope.

Best bet is to hook-up your TV to a computer and watch one of the internet broadcasts of the game.

We use this technique to watch baseball on MLB.com and it works great (you need broadband though)...

It is broadcast live on ESPN. Check out this schedule:

ESPN - January 5, 2006
08:00:00 COLLEGE FOOTBALL BOWL GAME ROSE BOWL PASADENA, CA USA South Florida Vs Texas (L) 03:30:00

Also, if you look at previous days, the Orange Bowl, Fiesta Bowl and Sugar Bowl are also broadcast.

For the Rose Bowl, there is a Soi 1 beer bar girl who works days and her tits seem to like my hands so I hope I'll be there! I need to see if that bar is open that early (I think they usually open at 9:00am).

None of those games are in the UBC schedules for Thaialnd, but that does give hope. UBC carries Star Sports so it might be there, but then again frequently UBC replaces the Star feeds with repeats (for the third or fourth time) of European soccer. How nice.

Anyway, we live in hope.......

Texas is playing South Florida for the national college championship? Sounds good to me, but alas, the Longhorns have to face mighty USC, not USF.

ABC (ESPN) has the broadcast rights for all the BCS bowls this year (January 2006) ; but after that Fox takes over for awhile and I don't think you will see these games on ESPN (or in Thailand) in January 2007, and for several years after that.

I do not beleive that is so Mr. Alan. There are US rights and international rights. Fox had many of the baseball playoff games but they were also shown by Star Sports/ESPN because Star had the Asia rights and used the Fox feed for a fee...

From everything I have seen, UBC Thailand takes the Asia ESPN feed and airs it, it does not edit out programs on the ESPN feed. And the Bowl games are going to be on ESPN Asia, so they will be seen in Thailand.

For three years, I have been consulting the schedule link I posted, and it has been correct 100% of the time, for what I remember.

You may be right about that. But baseball is a bit different than American Football. Baseball is popular in many Asian countries, (noteably Japan and Korea), whereas American Football is played in err...USA. So I am not so sure that ESPN Asia would be willing to pay extra to another network for international rights to college bowl games. Maybe the Super Bowl (professional) yes, but not sure about college games. But we will have to wait until 2007 to find out.
