Dirty Guru,, Must dissagree strongly re- Australia for Thai visitors etc. Australia has a 5 tier ranking system with rank 1 considered 'least risk", rank 1 includes Americans Brits, Canadians etc,, no problem. Thailand rates tier 2,, they are NOT seen as a substantial risk as 98% plus return when they are suppose too. Anyway I have never had trouble,, before I married my wife, she had 2 tourist visas, followed by a "Fiancee' visa no problerms. Have also had no problems bringing her parents here on extended stay tourist visas on two occasions. All these where done with very little hassle and nil legal services needed, just needed honest documentation to support the applications. Not looking for an argument but they are the facts in my case. Regards Mel.

hi all, my GF got to the states on a K1, now wife. I have a good friend that was just here in october with his thai GF on Holiday (tourist Visa) but she was a thai teacher at a very prominant catholic school on sathorn and a letter from the head father at the school was submitted stating that he would personally gaurantee her return as she was an employee at this school for over 5 years. Furthermore, his dad in the states sponsored her, its not only $$$ its a legal gurantee that if she took off he would be responsible (I am not sure what if any the penelty would be). Her case was easy. as was another friend of mine that just got approval and is coming home for christmas. His thai wife got a tourist visa, but again she is a teacher at chula and has been there for 4 years. It will be virtually impossible for a girl working in Nana to get to the states (even hawaii) without documentation you guys have had a serious relationship and you will marry her within 90 days and sponsor her. Typically even when lawyers submit the paperwork it doesnt really help a whole lot as they see the process as straight forward and if every thing is on the "up and up" there is no need for an attorney. with that said, if the deal is on the "up and up" it will not hurt to have an attorney and could make things move a little faster as the paperwork will be tight. It does raise a slight red flag when an attorney is involved, they will srutinize the application a bit more. (ALL DO RESPECT FOR THE IMMIGRATION ATTORNEYS OUT THERE ) if they are a bar girl and admit it or are tricked into admitting it, 100% will be denied for a "tourist visa" and 90% will be turned down on a K1, unless you actually got her out of the biz and lived with her for over 2 years and she had obtained another job that she could actually legaly do in the states. I wish anyone going for it the best of luck and if its a legitimant relationship a K1 is no problem, just takes about 7 months. If they have a good job and strong ties to thailand a tourist visa isnt as difficult as people imagine. If however, the girl is a BG and wanting to obtain a tourist visa, it aint happening. My experiences!! constructive criticism/contrary evidence welcomed cheers all, atl

Mel While I am happy your experiences were favourable, it goes without saying it is not so easy in general. 75% of Fiancee visas do not fly. (at least not without a long protracted sc***iny) Granted in your case the two tourist visas prior established the relationship much more, have you considered that may be the reason your case was passed relatively easy? As for family, sure thats just law, no agruements. Infact your comments are agreat help in focusing others about the "time" and steps required to be success. Well said. NOTE.. I stand by my comments, unless your operating like Mel (ie tourist visas and long documentation, its no picnic getting babes over to OZ)

I wish anyone going for it the best of luck and if its a legitimant relationship......... I probably should not of used the word"legitimate" relationship, because a relationship with a BG can be legit. I think you all know what I meant. The main thing on tourist visa's they care about is if the person will return. on K1 fiance visa they want to see education/job skills that could contribute to society in a legal way. I do have a friend that is currently in england with his wife, former BG, on a holiday visa. They have been married about 2 years and she works with him in his thai based business. It was a bitch for them, had to get into germany, then file with british embassy in Germany. also, if you are considering getting married in Thailand and moving back to the states afterwards. it should be known that a marriage visa can take as long as 2 years, while a K1 fiance is approx. 7 to 8 months. cheers, atl

Thanks for your comments DG Yes, if your plan is to bring your gal to Aus best to start collecting documentation. Keep all telephone records ( proof of length of relationship), keep all photos of when you together, try and keep track of mutual friends that can attest that you where together,, the file my now wife and I sent in was some 300 pages of documentation as well as pictures,,,,, MAYBE they just got so very bored they stamped it approved...LOL
